Name: Willem Janssen

Date of Birth: September 29th, 1989 (Age 36)

Birthplace: Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Position: Senior Researcher at TNO

Education: Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering

Bio: Born in Eindhoven, Willem was living in "the smartest region in the world" by 2012, when he graduated from the University of Technology in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. After his graduation project researching mapping algorithms for GPGPU's, Willem was contracted by the Dutch military science division TNO. Here, Willem continued his reseach into parallel computing and spearheaded developments which led to the Goblin X1 massively parallel millitary compute unit. The Goblin X1 replaced almost every computer chip in military equipment and was build in a modular way in order to adapt to the role it needs to fullfill in any particular device. With the Goblin X2, released in 2025, processing power trippled and power consumtion reached an all time low on integrated chips as this was the first chip to be mass produced with novel Germanium technologies, replacing silicon as the de-facto standard for computer chips. Willem was asked to design the Goblin X3 chip specifically for the Ironman mission and after 10 years of research, improving algorithms and creating even more efficient chip mappings, the chip was finally completed and integrated into most of the Ironman systems, powering everything from personal consoles to engine monitoring and course calcuations. It was no suprise that Willem was the first person to be asked to be the Dutch representative on the Ironman mission. He accepted the moment he heard and has been training for the mission ever since.
