One week ago, when The Last Outpost launched our Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force client as "Holomatch, refined," that wasn't just a fancy, branded image. "Holomatch, refined" is a standard, a commitment from us to deliver the best package possible for end users. We want this download to be worth your time and bandwidth, especially in this day and age where data caps are becoming more and more common. To that end, we continue to curate and add content, and make changes to improve the overall game experience.

Do you have suggestions for content or tweaks that would improve your experience? We welcome it! Just register here on our forums and head over to the Feature Requests board with your feedback. Reports of bugs, map exploits, and unintended game behavior should be directed to our Engineering board. If you are a creator of one or more modifications included in this client and would like to request that we remove and/or stop distributing your work, please post in the Engineering board. We do our best to properly attribute maps and models to their respective creators in our Mod Licenses folder, but no one's perfect!

The folders in this patch archive will need to be extracted to the directory where you installed the game.

•   Maximum framerate increased to 200 FPS from 90 FPS.

•   R_Mode now defaults to "-1" instead of "3".
            •   This fixes persistent aspect ratio problems when setting custom high resolutions.

•   The Sonic the Hedgehog player model has been updated with visually distinct team colors to prevent unfair gameplay advantages.
            •   Before
            •   After

•   The following maps have been added:
            •   Cargo
            •   CTF_AmbushV2
            •   CTF_BattleTactic2
            •   CTF_BattleTactic2_WithoutPill
            •   CTF_BlastRadius-X
            •   CTF_Borg3
            •   CTF_CamX
            •   EFPinball_11
            •   HM_Uni2
            •   JUL20
            •   UT_Subway
            •   CTF_Voy808

Known Issues:

•   No official support for Linux or macOS operating systems.
            •   A Linux client is currently being researched. No macOS client is planned at this time.
                   •    In the meantime, the game has been tested and confirmed to work on WINE.

•   Resolution defaults to full screen 640x480.
•   No in-game options for display 4:3 resolutions above 2048x1536 and 16:9 resolutions above 856x480.
•   No in-game options for 3:2 and 21:9 aspect ratios.
            •   All of these problems can be fixed by setting /r_customwidth and /r_customheight to your desired window size.
                   •    For example, you would type /r_customwidth "1920";r_customheight "1080" in console for 1080p displays.
                   •    /r_fullscreen "0" can be used to force windowed mode.
                   •    If none of your changes are taking effect, try /r_mode "-1" and /vid_restart.

•   No in-game options for anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering.
            •   These must be set manually via your graphics card's control panel.

•   Some maps encounter framerate loss on high-end hardware due to deprecated OpenGL optimization issues.
            •   Renaming the game .exe will flag optimal AMD and NVIDIA OpenGL driver paths and improve performance.
                   •    quake3.exe has been tested and confirmed to improve performance on NVIDIA and some AMD GPUs.
                   •    WolfSP.exe has been tested and confirmed to improve performance on some AMD GPUs.
                   •    Any shortcuts created prior to this change will need to be adjusted by the user.

•   Users may encounter problems joining servers due to a "bad CD key" error.
            •   This occurs because some servers still use the original game client, instead of ioEF, which has the CD key check disabled.
                   •    This cannot be fixed without a valid CD key. A list of compatible ioEF-based servers is available here.

•   The in-game model list doesn't include all of the player models and skins present in BaseEF.
            •   This is the result of an engine limitation with how many models the menu can display. We are researching possible fixes.

•   Several Star Trek: The Next Generation player models don't have distinct team colors and offer unfair gameplay advantages.
            •   Multiple fixes for this problem are currently being researched and tested.
                   •    The original mod author has been contacted for consultation.

Perhaps the most comprehensive interactive Star Trek roleplaying experience ever released, RPG-X is a total conversion of Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force that first released in 2004. RPG-X transforms Holomatch from a frantic arena shooter into a sandbox tool set that enables players to share original stories inspired by a franchise spanning over fifty years and countless tales of starship crews exploring the galaxy on television.
