What is the Star Trek: RPG-X Pen & Paper Companion Skill System?
Developed by Serris, the
Star Trek: RPG-X Pen & Paper Companion Skill System is a new traditional roleplaying game designed to compliment the direct action-oriented style of player interaction in
RPG-X. Similar to
Dungeons & Dragons, the
Star Trek: RPG-X Skill System provides a framework for players to quantify their character's abilities, as well as add a more dynamic, random element to their interactions with the world around them.
A print-friendly version of the first edition is available
here.
What does this mean for The Last Outpost's Shared Universe?
Asteria and
Endurance will be the first series to use the
RPG-X Skill System to facilitate events and define the consequences for characters' actions, hoping to provide a more dynamic storytelling experience. Players who apply for either series will be required to fill out a skill sheet for their character. Andzzy has created
a spreadsheet template that will help you do most of the work, though you may still need to refer to the PDF to factor in trait bonuses and penalties. An example of a finished character biography with a skill sheet can be seen
here.
