I only get BSoD with RPG-x. I have no idea why. It's annoying, I BSoD'd twice tonight RP'ing. Maybe you guys could help me cos I'm out of ideas. I have defragmented, reformatted and it's still happening. I don't think it could be a performance issue since I play games with higher specs fine.
I did notice something in the events logs - This
''There was an error while attempting to read the local hosts file.'' Event ID 1012.
I have Windows 7, 4GB RAM.
Dual core @ 2.10 GHZ each.
Any help appreciated.
Edit: I should also add the BSoDs include page in a non paged area, irql not less or equal, win2k,sys.
Sounds to me like a DNS/internet device drivers issue.
Do you connect wirelessly or with ethernet?

Wireless. Don't see how it's an issue, as it has not happened before and 2 other laptops, both vista, work fine. Why would it send me BSoD'ing too? I'm very confuzzled :(
I will reboot my router fully. I will also reinstall all my wireless receivers drivers.
It wouldn't be a router issue, it's an issue on the local machine. Does this happen when you use EF on other computers on your network?
If you can't test that, try playing while plugged in to ethernet, or try playing on a different wifi network.
It works fine on my PC which is XP. I'll try the ethernet cable in another RP.
Oh well, back to curling up in and ball and rocking backwards and fowards ;D
What's the brand/model of your graphics card? And do you have the latest updates?
Often, EF used to BSOD for me because of my graphics card. After updating, it crashed less, but still continued to crash- even though it performed adequately under newer games like TF2 or HL2.
Also see if you have the "GL Extensions" off in your video settings, in addition to simple shaders.

Well I've managed to get on the server, after a map change....And it ran with no problems, bar desktop manager crashing a few times. Then I get errors like this.

And Taisen, I have Intel Mobile 4 series graphics card...not great but should be fine.

Eww, Intel? :P I had an intel card once, as I said, it runs great for most newer games, but not well for older games which I suppose were designed under a different architecture or something...

You're running out of gfx/game memory.
You can do a few things: First, reduce your settings and resolution so the graphics don't take up as much memory. Second, increase your com_hunkmegs as best you can.
That is what confuzzles me deeply. Firefox even takes up more RAM than Elite Force. Sims 2 with all the packs runs fine. I like to alt tab a bit though ;D

Firefox is an incredibe memory hog.
Try using Chrome or something instead, or simply closing it and other apps before running EF.

Windows 7's visual fx can be a bit of a memory hog to (from your gfx card, not your RAM :P). Try going into control panel, and changing settings to the non-aero settings (boxy windows) for your RPG-X. Doesn't look pretty, but frees up a lot of space on your gfx memory.
Have you tryed hitting your computer that might do something no joke sometimes my computers mouse acts up and for some reason hitting thee computer a little sometimes makes it stop
In all seriousness, I don't recommend hitting your system. If there's a hardware problem you'll only make it worse, if it's a software problem that'll do nothing at all. If the mouse acts up and hitting solves it, sounds like a jiggling USB port or loose PCI card/slot.
Yes, try changing to non-aero as Taisen suggested. Let us know how everything works!
