An Introduction to 'The Parting Glass' by Grizz

The seventieth episode of Star Trek: Asteroid Field chooses to look both back and ahead, taking stock of where we are, where we've come from and where we're going. Very much an episode of two halves, we start where we left off last week, battling the Vega Sphere after both it and the Helia were lured to the same location for the sake of Denara Clarke's experiment with Craig McClintock. Around this bit of action, however, is largely character drama. One way or another, the Helia's time on the road is coming to an end, but there are some important decisions to be made before we reach out final destination. McClintock's increasingly potent abilities could be vital in holding off the Vega Drones - and could well be necessary in disabling them en-mass. But if Clarke's theory proves to be correct then it could well mean his end. Back on Earth, the powers that be have had to balance the quick retaking of Accobar with the abandonment of protection operations beyond the neutral zone. Now President Taylor is ready to make another important decision, whether Starfleet wins or loses after the push to Pioneer - harking back to her inaugural speech. We have also seen a number of prominent figures over the last two seasons fearing Maria Vega and what she represents. Now we're going to see who it is who she fears and what it could mean for the future.

Please be prepared to bring your own thoughts to the table this week. This could be the end of the road and the episode has been named to reflect that...

We're close enough to wave at him - I wouldn't worry about it

Well you've just made yourself look a fool because nobody on this side is waving.

Please note that Starbasr 45 has been added as a required file - though I suspect you all already have it by now.

An additional scene between President Taylor and Renee Hampton was cut from this episode. The decision was made mid-RP that it wouldn't have fit in. It will be replaced with another in a later episode this season.

Thank you to all attendees. I know it was very much on the quiet side in the latter half - especially for newcomers - but that was very much intentional as I hope was obvious by the end. Another 11 on the server, most appreciative.
