The survivors managed to get the communications array online, but inhuman noises deep within the cave prompted Chef and Ensign sh'Zarath to investigate. As they approached the end of the cavern, Chef was ambushed by an unknown creature, sustaining serious injuries. Barnes and Lieutenant Halford arrived soon after, scaring it off with phaser fire. Unfortunately, the creature didn't stay away for long. Chef told the two officers to run and protect the others while he distracted the creature. Using their phasers, Barnes and Halford sealed the cavern, as well as Chef's fate.

Meanwhile, the starship Geronimo responded to their distress call. Interference in the cavern clouded the signal and prevented a transporter lock-on, prompting the crew to move back to the area where the creature had been walled in. With no other options, they tunneled through the rocks with their phasers, unleashing the angry beast within. Halford sustained lacerations to his chest, but thanks to an improbable shot by Captain He, they were able to kill it.

By using crystals in the cave as a signal amplifier, they were able to be transported to safety aboard the Geronimo.

Apologies for not making this. Slept in way too late, and forgot to set the clock. Will be there next week.

In my opinion, this was one of the best episodes done so far.
The whole episode essentially took place in one location with all the characters but was still interesting and had a good, strong and convincing story line.
It was paced well and I think everyone had something to do at most points within the episode.
It was also a sad episode due to the loss of the chef, who was a character I think we had all come to know and love within the series. His character really developed over this two part episode and I think it was a great way for him to go. I'll be interested to see what you come up with next Serris.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
