Title: A different kind of Question
Post by: Klaw on August 02, 2011, 08:33:09 PM
Wasn't sure where to put this, figured it was more engineering than Roleplaying lobby or anywhere else, as it is a technical question.

Basically, I'm shooting this question in the direction of GSIO01, but anyone with experience, please step up and let me know.

I've been mapping now with GTK Radiant for.... a while now, and I kinda got used to the interface and what not, well, I'm starting to get into some more advanced mapping techniques, which I'm not sure GTK can handle-- so I feel like I should experiment with net radiant (Which I hear is like moving from a Ford to a BMW of mapping)

My question is this, near as I can tell, Net radiant doesn't support Elite Force, so are there files I'll need to download, or am I able to manually log it to recieve the EF textures, or what can I do to make it compatible?

Yes klaw, you need the stvef.game file :P and the stvef.game folder with the entiy configs for SP and MP, you can just grab
those form a GTK Install.

I've been trying NET Radiant on my laptop a bit, but i have to say, i dont see much difference between it and GTK 1.5
As it stands now, I still prefer 1.5. NET Radiant takes a while for me to load for some reason and the opengl drawing in the windows sometimes naffes up. I never had any problems with GTK 1.5.

Anyway, use whatever version you prefer :) there are still limits to what you can do. And remember Klaw, a brush needs to be convex! :P That basically the most important rule in mapping, if you want to make something concave, use patches. (Yes, I'm quite the knowledgeable mapper myself XD).
