Title: Return Hail from The Alpha Centauri Institute
Post by: WereWolf359 on July 25, 2011, 09:40:34 AM
****BEGIN TRANSMISSION****
TO: Councillor Veritas, The Last Outpost
FROM: Rear Admiral Telev, Vice-President, Alpha Centauri Institute
RE: Diplomatic Contacts

Councillor Veritas,

On behalf of the Alpha Centauri Insitute, I wish to extend my thanks for your recent diplomatic initiative and apologize for the delay in returning the courtesy.

Currently, our Diplomatic Corps is undergoing some not insignificant changes.  Losses on many fronts have taken their toll not just on our own diplomatic ranks, but on those of our allies as well.  Our Fleet Liason, Ilara Zhal, was recently reported missing in action.  Until such time as we can verify her status and, if necessary, appoint a replacement, the ACI will be unable to enter into formal allied status with other organizations.

It is, however, my sincere wish that we establish and maintain cordial relationships with The Last Outpost.

I also hope that your members will approach members of the ACI on subspace channels or at our primary base of operations, Starbase 39.  We would also welcome the chance to respond to shared threats or participate in investigations and endeavors of common interest.

Until Ambassador Zhal's return or replacement, I will do my best to keep channels open between our groups.

~~~~ Telev (signed)
Rear Admiral Seerda sim Telev, Commanding Officer USS Rainier
Vice President, The Alpha Centauri Institute
****END TRANSMISSION****
((OOC: Thanks very much for reaching out to us.  We are very open to any other RP groups out there and all the possibilities that brings.  I hope to meet your members in-game but should warn you that Telev is a Tellarite and this message is way beyond polite for him ;) ))
Greetings, and welcome to the TLO forums! I feel bad that I did not prepare an IC reply, but my character is currently an ensign, so that would be rather odd... :P
My thanks to each of you for your welcome.  Please take note of the following information:
As part of the ongoing ACI Sciences Lecture series, Fleet Captain Three of Sixteen, ACI Archivist and Head of Sciences, has announced a new series of lectures titled:  "Adapting to the Borg."
The first lecture in this series will be held Saturday, August 6 at 7 PM EDT (GMT -4) on the grounds of Starfleet Academy.  All ACI personnel are encouraged to attend.  Notice will also be served to our allies.
From Fleet Captain Three:
Lecture Series Description:
    The Alpha Centauri Institute will be hosting a lecture series at Starfleet Academy dealing with the crisis know as the Borg Collective.  A topic almost every Starfleet officer is familiar with.  The lecture series is designed to inform our peers of the work Starfleet and the Federation do to counteract the Collective.  From combat and weapon modulations to research and drone liberation, this series will discuss all aspects of our work and duties in the fight against the Borg.
[OOC: As said above, we will be hosting a lecture series at the Academy.  Lectures will be held in the holodecks at the Academy.  Please be aware there is no furniture so everyone will be sitting on the floor while the lector stands and those asking questions at the end will stand to ask.  Lectors are not solely confined to ACI members and attendance is open to everyone.  If you wish to lector and/or lead any of the lectures, please contact Voyager316 via in-game to discuss your topic and a time.]
Science Lecture Description:
    In the lecture, "Researching the Borg", we will be discussing the nature and goals of the Borg and their impact on the Federation.  Our methods of research will be explained and our means of implementing such research.  The concept and procedure of liberating drones from the Collective, as well as, the duty of every Starfleet officer to attempt such when the option is given will be discussed.  The lector for the evening will be Fleet Captain Three of Sixteen.  The queue will be opening twenty-four hours before the lecture starts and tickets will be sold starting half-an-hour before hand.
[OOC: Proceed to the kiosk behind the help desk (next to the exchange cadet) to receive your ticket and directions to the lecture.  Feel free to get in line before tickets are sold (no cost, just rp) since line waiting can make some nice rp conversation.]
((OOC:  Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to post this on your site, but it seemed the safest choice.))
Let me extend you all an OOC greeting! This is Ilara Zhal, Fleet Liaison Officer for the ACI. In-character, I'm still missing in action, but that will change this Friday, as part of an impromptu RP event I'm running. You are all more than welcome to come and RP with us. 7PM Eastern Time is the plan. I'm @Hrisal - ping me and I'll let you know what channel we're using for the RP.
I'm also running a forum RP to lead into it, so head over to the "Ten Forward" forum at ACI if you want to be part of the prelude. http://aci.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?G ... ID=2866101 (http://aci.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=342365&TabID=2866101)
Otherwise, read on for a blurb that includes some significant spoilers for the prelude part, but reflects about what the starting situation will be for the in-game RP Friday night, unless something extremely crazy happens on the forums:
Captain Ilara Zhal's ship, the USS Lor'Vela, limps back towards Federation space from a mission of exploration, without its saucer section and without its captain. On board are over 300 refugees from a Vulcanoid race, apparently descended from a Rihannsu colony ship thought destroyed in a black hole in ancient times. They describe themselves as some of the last survivors of a genocide perpetrated by members of their own race. Their genocidal brethren suffer from a genetic "sickness," but the survivors claim to have developed a cure. It will be up to you to determine whether to aid the refugees in curing their brethren and how to rescue Captain Zhal and the remaining crew from hostile territory.
Re: Terran New Year's Eve Celebration
Dear friends,
The Alpha Centauri Institute will once again be celebrating the Terran New Year on Earth. This year we have invited a dancing troupe from the India region of Earth to perform a traditional dance symbolizing the rebirth of human civilization following its third and final global war.
There will also be an art gallery to showcase the collective talents of our attendees. If you have an artistic talent, please bring an original piece to add to the gallery for the evening.
Finally, in response to complaints that last year's location was too cold, we will be celebrating in temperate Iceland this year. Coordinates (//http://aci.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=342365&ForumID=1631781&TabID=2866101&Replies=2&TopicID=9925592)
I hope to see you there,
-Ilara
((Hello again! I occasionally throw Forum RP parties which are mostly a way of getting to know one another, but may include a bit of plot or plot foreshadowing for future events. You are welcome to attend, since we always enjoy getting to know new roleplayers. I hope we can connect in-game for some RP together, and I'll let you know when we schedule our next official in-game episode.))
Hello Ilara!
I can certainly try to make it to your forum event, I love forum RP's! This one's holiday twist sounds especially exciting. Our STO RP Division has just undergone some changes, with the retiring of Brex, our RP Director. Once we get that division up and running again, a series of RP's between our groups is certainly not out of the question!
I'll be contacting you, or anyone else I can get ahold of in-game soon!
Signed,
Flag Officer Griffiths
Head of External Affairs & Council Clerk
Great, I look forward to talking with you. If you don't see me in game, try @WereWolf359 (Telev - he responded above).
The forum RP is underway, so stop by any time and introduce yourself. If it doesn't feel quite right to show up without knowing anybody, say you met Ilara before and I'll play along. =:)
Don't mind the Caitian and the lizardman stalking each other outside, they're just playing. But best not to get in between them, all the same.
Greetings...
I also have found ACI and they informed me of TLO here as well as I just signed up. I look forward to providing some unique roleplay and to bring a new prospective to Roleplay ideas I got floatin around in my head...it will be fun and challenging, and rewarding in many ways !
My characters have a link between the 2 groups here, but I am just a member of both, and will have a main character in each both with their own purposes in life which will at some point bring them together in some form or other; just one of a few of my ideas. There are some technical difficulties in RP'ng with large groups - well I have an idea on that one too but sorry folks no spoilers at this time :)
STO is easy to roleplay in as far as I can see...I am a moderate RP'er leaning towards casual, and am a game designer working with the Foundry.
I am gladd to see this alliance - I am looking at the others and will work on getting Roleplay Fleet action going on STO.
Sclepion (ACI) and Asclepion (TLO) both @cdr_hawkeyez
TLO folks - most of the ACI Board of Directors and probably some other members are getting together for casual RP of the new Feature Episode tonight at 6pm Eastern time. It would be great to get some live RP with you, if you're free. Look for me at DS9: Ilara@Hrisal
