Greetings! With 2021 being a new year, I think it's time we work on some events for the department. Since that's only in a few short weeks, this thread is going to be dedicated to just laying some groundwork for what's planned, and figuring out the finer details like times from there. For January 2021, I think running things on the weekends would be a good idea, and I have plans for three of the five slots:

  • Week 1 (January 2nd/3rd) - Stellaris (Vanilla)
  • Week 2 (January 9th/10th) - Sins of a Solar Empire (Armada 3)
  • Week 3 (January 16th/17th) - Stellaris (New Horizons)
  • Week 4 (January 23rd/24th) - Free Slot
  • Week 5 (January 30th/31st) - Free Slot

The last two can either be used as runoffs for the first three games, or used for something else. Time will tell.

So now, we're onto times: Obviously a lot of us are quite busy, so finding a time that works for us all is going to be a challenge. If you are interested in these events, please reply with what times work for you and I will post a poll in the coming days to work things out more.

It's no lie that activity on the server isn't great, no doubt for a few reasons (antiquated version of the game/modpack, not a lot going on hosted by the division, and so on...)

That being said, another concern is that the version of the game it's running can't use Bukkit, which has its drawbacks if we ever want the server to be open for everyone (Bukkit allows more advanced protection to prevent griefing, among other things).

So with that being said, I'm putting up a poll to decide this -- it closes after 24 hours of posting so we can get any changes up hastily.

(The Bukkit server would be running the bare essentials to start with, with more plugins added based on interest).

The End of September Game-a-thon!

From the 25th of September to the 1st of October, the division will be playing various games, while we have no formal timeslot for these activities, they will all be coordinated from the TLO Discord Server (which you can join here). The current lineup of games is, but not limited to:

  • Star Wars: Empire at War
  • Stellaris: Synthetic Dawn
  • Star Trek: Armada III (requires Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion!)

If you have any suggestions for games over the week, be sure to mention them!

But that's not all! From the 22nd of September to the 25th of September, Dendo Hellen will be hosting various Overwatch related activities to go alongside its free weekend!

Minecraft 1.12.1 Server - July 2017 - August 16th 2017
Greetings! One of my first acts as division CO will be this poll, and the subsequent enaction of whatever choice is made here. This poll, as the title suggests, is about what version of Minecraft the server will run. I believe it's important a choice is made as soon as possible before more time is spent on the server. Below, I will post information about each option. Be warned however, that many of the options will require a full map reset.

The first option is Vanilla Minecraft. This is what the current server is, and it's just regular ol' Minecraft. This option won't require a map reset, and if the server is kept with this, an additional Creative Mode world will be opened alongside the current Survival world.

The second option is Feed The Beast Ultimate. Veterans of The Last Outpost may remember the old Minecraft server, which ran on a similar modpack (the Direwolf 1.4.7 pack). This pack includes a bunch of different mods across a lot of functions, however it is quite old, and it will require a map reset.

The third option is Feed The Beast Unleashed. This modpack is considered the spiritual successor to Ultimate, as well as being the "main" 1.5 Modpack. Like Ultimate, it is quite old, and it will also need a map reset.

The fourth option is the Direwolf 1.6.2 Pack. This modpack was suggested to me by Andzzy, and it shares a lot of mods with both Ultimate and Unleashed, along with a few more obscure ones. Like Ultimate and Unleashed, it will need a map reset as well. This pack may also prove unstable on our server, so that might be a concern - one that hopefully can be avoided.

The fifth option is "Vanilla+" Minecraft. There's various plugins for Bukkit that can turn the game into something really unique, such as quests, NPCs, levelling systems, etc. This would take the longest to get operational, and also need a map reset.

If an option that requires the map to be reset is chose, some form of compensation will be added for people who played on the current incarnation to get a headstart in the new world.

This poll will run for 3 days, and it's encouraged to discuss the options in this thread!

STO News / Star Trek Online: Kobayashi Maru Event
June 27, 2017, 06:43:45 pm
With the announcement of the Kobayashi Maru arriving in STO, I figure we could try to put a team together to beat it or die trying.

In order to participate, you need to be Level 50 (Vice Admiral) or above and ideally have a ship that can hold it's own.

I'll be doing this on July 1st (01/07/17) at around 19:00 BST (11:00 PT/14:00 ET), throw in your @handle if you're interested.

Event Information:

Date: Saturday, 11th of July

Time: 1:00 PM EDT / 6:00 PM BST

Location: Ironclad Online

Requirements: Sins of a Solar Empire

Depending on how many players attend, will depend on what game type we play. If we only get 1-3, we will have a skirmish in a small map, if we get more, we'll do an X v X, possible against the AI. If you're interested, please say so on this post.
Got really, really bored and did this. It's mostly mission gear, but some must be bought from the exchange.

Main gear:
Deflector: Quantum Phase Deflector from 'Stormbound' (Future Proof arc)
Shields: Quantum Phase Shield from 'Stormbound'
Impulse Engines: Quantum Phase Impulse Engines from 'Stormbound'
Warp core: Obelisk Warpcore from 'Sphere of Influence' (Solanae Dyson Sphere arc)

Fore slots 1, 2, 3 ,4: Antiproton Beam Array from 'Fluid Dynamics' or 'Blood of Ancients' (the former is faster, the latter has a chance to reward beams w/ better modifiers) (Borg Advance and Iconian War arcs respectively)
Aft slots 1, 2, 3: Antiproton Beam Array from 'Fluid Dynamics' or  'Blood of Ancients'
Aft slot 4: Ancient omni Antiproton Beam Array from 'Sphere of Influence'

Tactical: x3 Mark XI, or XII Antiproton Mag consoles (can be picked up cheap on the exchange, aim for uncommon/rare quality. Very rare is a stretch)
Slot 1: Polaric Modulator (from Delta Flight, Iconian War arc)
Slot 2, 3, 4:  x3 Mark XI, or XII Neutronium Alloy consoles (can be picked up cheap on the exchange, aim for uncommon/rare quality. Very rare is a stretch)
Slot 1: Temporal Disentanglement Suite (from Butterfly, Iconian War arc)
Slot 2: Mark XI, or XII Field Generator Console (can be picked up cheap on the exchange, aim for uncommon/rare quality. Very rare is a stretch)

Slot Shield, Weapon, Auxiliary or Engine batteries - your preference
Subspace Field Modulator (from Skirmish, Klingon War arc)

Lieutenant Tactical: Ensign - Tactical Team I, Lieutenant - Beam: Fire at Will II
Ensign Tactical: Ensign - Tactical Team I

Lt. Commander Engineer: Ensign - Engineering Team I, Lieutenant - Auxiliary to Structural Integrity I, Lt. Commander - Aceton Beam 1

This isn't the best build, but it'll do for doing endgame content until you can get a better ship/better gear. If anybody has any questions/criticisms, please post them below.
Announcements / Ex Astra
November 23, 2014, 11:16:13 am
As new M&M head, I will be revamping the TLO magazine, 'Ex Astra' - So far I have been designing new graphics for it in order for it to look more clean, as the current banner looks very unprofessional.

Regarding writers, I will reopen the positions to apply for Ex Astra Writing once everything is set up for it. I am estimating the first edition of Ex Astra to be released by the end of next month! Look forward to it!

STO News / Bonus Episode Incoming!

(I'm gonna post an easier to read version of the recent news here, since it's displayed oddly on the arc website).

Once again, greetings from the Delta Quadrant! It has been exciting to watch everyone make their journey through Delta Rising to meet old friends, trade fire with new enemies, and unravel the mystery of the Vaadwaur resurgence.Once again, greetings from the Delta Quadrant! It has been exciting to watch everyone make their journey through Delta Rising to meet old friends, trade fire with new enemies, and unravel the mystery of the Vaadwaur resurgence.

Your feedback on the story has been overwhelmingly positive, and everyone on the development team wants to continue delivering the story content you've asked to see. While you've been on an amazing voyage through the quadrant, the team has been hard at work to bring you the next chapter in the Delta Rising story arc.

Those of you who have finished the Delta Rising missions may have noticed that there were some questions left unanswered, some mysteries unsolved, and a last minute reveal that begs further examination. You won't have much longer to wait.

On Thursday, November 13th we'll be releasing "What's Left Behind," another episode in the Delta Quadrant arc for all level 60 captains. This episode is an epilogue to the current Delta Rising story arc. "What's Left Behind" brings together everything you have learned in your voyage, and features the voices of Robert Picardo and Denise Crosby. You won't want to miss it!

The alliance helped save the quadrant. But what's left behind might be the greatest danger of them all.

Only you can breach the darkness.

You will arrive in the Voraaki System. You will not expect what is coming. The Delta Quadrant is dangerous.

Mission One: Breach
Mission Two: Arrival
Mission Three: Catalyst
Mission Four: Awaken
As of now, there are two worlds for the public. Survival, and creative.

If you prefer fighting monsters, exploring the world, and crafting armor, then survival is for you.

If you prefer building, whether it be large or small, then Creative is for you.

To find the portal to your chosen world, just look around spawn for the portal labelled 'Creative' or 'Survival'.
