Patch Notes - Version 2.0

This version is largely to improve the new user experience. Users who have existing installs of RPG-X can download this file (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EPMQt16dAZMFTmWQPiET4hlI7fTTKFjN/view?usp=sharing) and place it in their BaseEF folder to receive most of the core changes. Compatibility with existing RPG-X game servers is unaffected.

•  No more version forks! RPG-X is now only available as one standalone download to prevent community fragmentation.

•  The Internet1, Internet2, and Internet3 Master Server browsers are now functional again.
            •  If one doesn't work, try the others.

•  The Asteria Pack by GriffinEndurance is now included with the game by default.
            •  The EULA agreement can be found in the Mod Licenses subfolder.
                  •    Existing users may download the content here (https://asteria.griffinendurance.com/).

•  fs_homepath is now set to . by default in autoexec.cfg.
            •  This will write configuration files to $RoamingAppData%\RPGXEF, rather than Drive Root:\RPG-X like the previous version.
                  •    Running the game as administrator will cause configuration files to save in the game directory.

•  Music packs containing copyrighted audio files have been removed.

•  Source code has been modified to lay the foundation for future feature additions.

Amazing, people are still playing this game! :D*

Any chance of a Linux release? O:-)

Once we iron out some quirks with some of the new planned features, it's on the to-do list!

Looking forward to it. :)

I'm also curious; CBS likes to go around snuffing out any unlicensed fan projects (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4gVVMIFKu4). Do you have some sort of special permission from them or have just managed to stay below the radar over all these years? Especially since you distribute Holomatch for free as well, given that GOG had a spate of releases of old Trek titles recently (which happens to be the impetus for finding my way back to this community).

We have an agreement that allows us to distribute them for free, @Serris knows more than I do about the agreement, I wasn't around when it was made.

Alright. I'm just curious if you guys have thought about releasing the game on Steam, given that it would give an immense boost to its visibility (if you're interested in that)!

RPG-X is a possibility some day, but Holomatch is a definite no due to our non-compete agreement.

RPG-X is what I mean; if I remember correctly, there was never an overabundance of players for SRPs.

I'm also curious if it's possible to rig up RPG-X with the Linux release of Holomatch or did RPG-X have its own executable?

I don't want to install Wine. :P
