"I won't be trying to change the Universe, Madam President. Just our little corner of it."

Pioneer Station has opened it's doors for her new crew ahead of the opening of the floodgates for incoming travellers. Already, a number of mysteries have reared their heads from beneath the surface of Accobar Three and out in to Romulan space. A splinter group has openly attack Starfleet and other Romulan targets in protest of the peace process between the Federation and the Star Empire. But, stacked up on Romulan ale and soil samples, I'm sure everything will be fine.

This was intentionally a fairly quiet episode to give proper time to the first look at Pioneer Station and the people on board. Next week, however, we're going 'off the deep end. (http://www.last-outpost.net/forum/index.php/topic,4836.new.html#new)' Thanks for attending. Rate and discuss, above and below.

Awesome. The plot, the map, just all together awesome. I love the map as it has a lot of cool features and the design is very cool. I also like my ability to make references to Alpha.

"Sure, as long as it doesn't involve over throwing the president."

All in all, the start of a very good, fun, and overall awesome SRP. Once again, Grizz has done it again. xD

What more can I say? Utterly brilliant, along with all the brilliant crew interaction that comes with a great plot. Anyway, this was made by Grizz. Surely that is enough.

*cracks knuckles* Let's do this.

So, here we are. The very first episode ever of Star Trek: Asteroid Field. The story was put together after the collapse of Star Trek: Asteroid Base due to the failings of the one man who created the map for the SRP. Thanks Apprentice. But enough griping. We all know how much Asteroid Base was loved. How goes it with Asteroid Field? Well, the first episode was filled with many different elements, so I'll try to sum up each one briefly. Of course, there was a lot going on so I'll inevitably miss some but I'll get into that in a moment.

I will start off by saying I rated this episode as 'Good' and not 'Excellent'. If I rated it 'Excellent' I would be assuming that everything was perfect and no detail was left unprepared for and there were no snags. I'll start with the intro. As we all got settled into the Athena, it became clear that the number of people was going to make this one exciting SRP! The interactivity going on between the crewmembers was astonishing! At points, it may have however diluted the official storyline. There was a PM to that effect somewhere in the SRP I recall... but anywho! The interactivity. While at times it did appear that it drowned the main plotline, it also got the ball flying at warp speed on the character development. It was a very nice thing to see and I hope we see more of it in the weeks to come. So the lesson there is: local chat people. Local chat.

The episode consisted of the standard RPing and everyone (mostly) paying attention to what was going on. However there was a minor fluke in the middle of the SRP. In the middle of the intense Character Development, there was a oops moment where certain people missed the final call of the shuttle and instead remained on the surface. This was, again, the fault of over-communication, which is something that can be just a deadly as under-communication.

The scenes between the civilians and the Starfleet officers were played out smoothly, to the point where it was probably the greatest relationship development of the episode. The fact that there are now civilians running things on an otherwise Starfleet station also helps to solidify this relationship. The crew, the station, the server, all these things held up well. Well, at least until it came time to Abandon Station. Then the server crashed. Despite all of the hiccups, the episode went ahead unhindered. Managing all the people that show up, and on a relatively new and powerful map to boot, can be a huge challenge. It's my opinion that Grizz and Griffiths handled this challenge well.

The rest of the episode went off without a hitch (as far as I can remember), so kudos to Grizz+Griff on their first ever full episode of Star Trek: Asteroid Field! The only recommendation I would make would be to switch to local chat ASAP. I think that might help to clear up a lot of the confusion surrounding the plot. As for what happens next... it truly is anybody's guess! ;D
