Hi all new member here and feeling frustrated. I just downloaded the ultimate edition of RPg-X and installed it to my windows 10 machine 64bit 8 gigs of ram GEForce 730 GFX with 2 gigs ram and AMD 3.0 8 core CPU and when i go to run the program it 'thinks' for a few seconds then just falls silent nothing launches.
I've tried installing and uninstalling it twice now and installing it to another location other then program files on the C: drive at the moment i'm stuck and mystified the only way i can run it is by running Elite Force HM but that doesnt seem to run the RPG-X properly any help would be appreciated
Have you tried launching it through the Start Menu folder or the Desktop shortcut that the installer creates? The game requires special launch parameters that are embedded into those shortcuts, but don't apply when you launch the game directly through the .exe. Our installer's shortcuts take care of that automatically.
If you don't already have one, create a Desktop shortcut to the .exe, right-click it, and go to Properties. There, you should see a Target line that looks like this:
"Drive:\Program Files\RPG-X Ultimate Edition"
You should edit it so that it looks like this:
"Drive:\Program Files\RPG-X Ultimate Edition" +set fs_game RPG-X2 +set vm_ui 0 +set vm_game 0 +set vm_cgame 0
Launch the game through that shortcut and everything should work fine.
How strange deleting then remaking the shortcut on the desktop fixed it yet nothing else was different. I wonder what caused the issue? Either way thank you for your help!
Perhaps something went wrong in the installer (admin rights, or strange characters in the .exe path?) preventing correct placement of shortcuts on your desktop.
Okay so I had that issue at first, now however, I am running into ANOTHER issue.
I can start my RPG-X and I get to the first loading screen. Now all it does is repeat an LCARS button press on loop and doesn't get to the main menu. It did not do this originally until I accidentally selected a SG Atlantis Uniform under the types of uniforms. I've uninstalled and reinstalled three times and this issue persists. I don't know if they're connected or not but if I could get a hand here. I'd appreciate it.
I run Windows 8 rather than Windows 10.
Are there any errors in the console when this happens?
There are a few ways we can probably fix this but I'd like to know what the specific error is before we try to proceed.
I can't even initialize the console. The game literally freezes within 10 seconds of the initial startup screen.
This sounds like a corrupt hmconfig to me, try deleting that file. (Not sure where that's kept now?)

Certainly worth trying. Try to find.
C:/<Username>/AppData/Roaming/STVEF/RPG-X2/hmconfig
<your RPG-X install directory>../RPG-X2/hmconfig
and delete those two files. When the game detects they aren't there, it will auto-generate some new ones with the default settings.
That did it! Thank you very much! The HMConfig files were messed up I think.
Wow I was having both of these problems as well and your guys' methods fixed it straight away, amazing! Thanks so much!! :D
You're very welcome!
The HMconfig corrupts sometimes, if you ever get caught in a loading loop then just delete it.
Please note, this is the file that stores all of your keyboard binds, and if you have to delete it then you'll load in with the default binds. It might be worth having this file backed up on your computer somewhere else, so if this does happen then you can just replace it with your back up.
