One of the 4 founding members of the United Federation of Planets, the Vulcans are a humanoid species known for their pointed ears and highly logical nature, among other things. Frequently called "Green-blooded hobgoblins", they are disliked by some. A common misconception is that they do not have emotions. This is not true. To the contrary, their emotions are much stronger than most other species. Because of this, they used to be a violent and passionate race before they nearly destroyed themselves in an all-out war before Surak, known as the father of modern Vulcan society, reformed Vulcan society. Emotions were to be suppressed. Lives were supposed to be driven purely by logic. Some rejected his teachings, and they became known as the Romulans. After the Romulans left Vulcan, the remaining Vulcans enjoyed a time of peace and prosperity. Made first contact with humans in 2063, and one of the four founding members of the United Federation of Planets.

- Their green blood results from copper-based hemogloben
- They have 2 Stomachs
- They must mate once every seven years; this is called pon farr.
- Their average height is about 2 meters
- Earth's atmosphere is about 3x thicker than Vulcan's atmosphere.
- Trellium-D is toxic to Vulcans; it degrades the neural pathways allowing them to control their emotions. This causes them to become extremely paranoid and emotional, and if left untreated, they will become almost zombie-like and die, as seen in this Enterprise episode (//http://www.startrek.com/watch_episode/QjjRP7AjDi5u6JG4LO6Wco8iukIUZBop).
- Sucrose seems to have the same effect on Vulcans as alcohol does on Terrans.
