The Senate has just approved a number of updates to the ranking system here at TLO. There are very important details here, so please read closely!
For new RPG-X members, completion of the Academy is no longer a requirement. The Academy Dean may still issue a rank upgrade however, though it is not mandatory. In order for a member to A) lead an RPG-X SRP, B) lead an RPG-X event, or C) take any RPG-X division job, they must first graduate the academy. This requirement may be waived, via a majority vote by the Senate.
Ranks will now have the following progression:
Recruits (recruit pips)
Chief (one half-pip)
Prov. Officer (two half-pips)
Jr. Officer (one pip, one half-pip)
Officer (two pips)
Senior Officer (three pips)
Captain (four pips)
---No non-staff past this line---
Staff Officer - Server Admin, Moderator, Minecraft Staff, etc (Commodore pips)
Staff Officer - Division XO (Two admiral pips)
Staff Officer - Division CO (Three admiral pips)
Out of respect to the former Council, the four admiral pips will not be used. Additionally, ranks such as Senator, President, Elder Statesmen, etc., will not be affected by these changes.
Lastly, new members will be assigned ranks upon joining based on a heuristic analysis of the skills reported in each of the games they'll be playing. As an example, for a member who joins playing Minecraft, STO, and Bridge Commander, who has exceptional skill in Bridge Commander, moderate knowledge in STO, but just started playing Minecraft. They would most likely be assigned a mid-level starting rank, such as Chief, due to their capability in our sub-division games.
There are quite a few changes here, and I hope this summarizes them clearly. If not, please ask questions! I will be making the rank adjustments for those who fall under the changes right now.

Please remember, everyone, that rank confers precisely the same amount of authority it did before: None. Users who have staff offices have authority based from those offices, but their rank is a benefit of that office, not the other way around. We don't give "orders" in TLO ;)
