The 4 cities (and two dozen villages) span across less than a quarter of the solid ground on the surface - The remaining lands are reserved for the "lesser creatures" (Wild Animals).

The Cities are named by the order they were built, With the "First City" being the Capital, and the "Second City" supporting the majority of the military population.

The Democracy in place calls for the Councilmen to manage the day-to-day monotony of Eden, while all major issues must be brought before the population, unless emergency powers are voted on - giving the council the power to do what is necessary in a crisis without the further need of the population support.  Dominant Race(s):

A Brief History as told by the Director of the Ed'nari University of History:
Eden: A brief history
In The Beginning: The Long Darkness
In the beginning, there was darkness and shadow. The untamed evils of infinity roamed freely and ruled over all. Then one day, The Creator rose up and tamed the shadows. By creating light, He forced the darkness to retreat and from that light, The Creator began to mold the cosmos in His image. The first of his creations, was Eden. The Creator's ability to tame the darkness and maintain His creations was waning. In light of his need to continue to create, The Creator brought upon the land of Eden a man, and He called him Adam. For many years after, Adam was charged with taking care of Eden, and defending her from the shadows that may return. After centuries of light, darkness fell - The Shadows had regained some strength and have returned to reclaim what they lost.
Adam sought out the Shadows, and fought them alone. Bringing them to their knees, Adam took pity on them. He allowed the darkness to return for half a rotation of the planet - but they had to leave when the other half began. Adam would soon call these rotations day and night. Soon, The Creator returned to check on Adam, and when he saw what Adam had done - he grew angry. Adam had opened up the Light, and allowed darkness to return. The Realm was open to evil once again. The Creator sent Adam, and all that was his into exile on a far off realm, an untamed, and wild land called 'Earth' - where he was forced to think on his transgression, and work to restore favor with the Creator. With Eden now empty, the Creator set upon the land a new people from the seed of Adam - and this started the history of Eden.
In the early days of Eden's long history, time was irrelevant. It was acknowledged that the suns would rise and set, signifying the beginning and end of a day, but time was not kept beyond that; for in times of peace, little else is needed. Life was simple, skills were the key to survival. Some men could fish, some men could hunt, and some men were craftsmen - and through the trading of goods and services all men, women and children lived in harmony and happiness; But there were some who found the mondane life dull, and sought for more. They craved power over the people of Eden and were unable to attain it alone. They embarked on a journey to claim dominion over the world and usurp supreme power over all of creation. The first step was to secure The Creator's Tomb, the symbol of power and freedom throughout the cosmos.
The Creator's Tomb
The Creator's Tomb was the place where Adam, the first man and caretaker of the realm of Eden, was laid to rest after his long exile in a land called 'Earth'. It is said that The Creator came to Adam near the end of his life, and forgave Adam of his transgressions - and asked for understanding in His decision to exile Adam in the land of Earth. Adam was understanding, and The Creator returned Adam to Eden, and built for him a tomb, where he could lay eternally in his final rest. As a result of it's believed origins, The Tomb would soon become a symbol of power - an alien concept in the early days - but a concept all Ed'nari would soon learn to understand and crave.
The Great War
The dissidents captured the Tomb, and uncovered a sacred tome. The tome was written by Adam, and contained many ancient secrets. These secrets helped the dissidents discover great and powerful weapons with which they could achieve their goal. Armed, the dissidents returned to the First City and, without opposition, conquored the council, and claimed victory over the land. For centuries, the Dissidents ruled supreme over the people of Eden, unaware of the evil inside of them fueling an ancient fire within all men. The Slaves rebelled, as the flames of their heart grew, and unarmed - the people of Eden retook the first city, but would soon face the hidden threat - The Lord of Shadows.
Time went on, days were growing darker, until finally night and day were the same. War was coming to the Ed'nari, and the Creator would be unable to save them. Slowly, through the war, concepts of time began to form, as generations of warriors were slaughtered in battle. The war lasted for more than 3000 generations of warriors until finally, aid arrived.
No Longer Alone
A great warrior and king over the realm of Olympus arrived on Eden, and drove the shadows back into the night. This event would mark the first time most of the Ed'nari had ever seen the suns. The warrior offered the Ed'nari a new dawn of peace and prosperity, and in return - Eden was to fall under the protection of the King. The King's Brother was not fond of this deal, and was public in his feelings, but followed his leader's wishes and assumed Control of the Ed'nari.
Zeus reigned over Eden with an iron hand, and a soft heart until one day, Cerberus, the King of Olympus, laid down the mantle of power, and bestowed the throne of Olympus upon Zeus. Zeus returned Eden to the Ed'nari Council, and forged a mutual cooperation treaty - which has kept both peoples happy and safe for Millenia.
The Here and Now
Now, the Darkness is making a return. Threatening all in its path, and seeking total dominion over all creation. The Dark Lord of Shadow will stop at nothing to achieve his goal; However, the entry of a foreign entity has disrupted the normal flow of time. Now, a new destiny will be forged, far apart from the History written out by the Powers of the Universe long ago and yet so similiar to the stories of the past. Now, cracks in the fabric of reality are bringing about a new history. Two Realms, merging to create a tale like no other. The future of these realms hang in the balance. For now, the tomes of History end and a new journey begins.
