Psychological Assessment:
General:
Confident in her own abilities (But not 'big-headed' as such), yet generally seeks guidance before engaging in anything major. Not seemingly concerned about others opinions of her, but doesn't have issues with social situations.
Emotion:
Alicia tends to keep most of her emotions to herself, and as a result sometimes she requires long periods of time alone to deal with emotions. She sometimes becomes shy when talking about her emotions, and prefers to observe others than discuss herself. During assessment, when love was mentioned Ms Costello became unresponsive, seemingly in deep thought. Contrary to some of these findings however, while on the job Alicia has been known to become cold and aggressive, and this has often been used to her advantage. Her close-combat instructor at the academy and her most recent assessor have both concurred in the fact that she can turn from a calm composed individual into a lethal weapon at a moments notice. Exact reasoning for this is unknown.
Intelligence:
Lt. Cmdr. Costello has shown an aptitude for all things in the security branch of StarFleet since enrolment in the academy. She generally performs better in practical assessments than those of theory, but has still succeeded in passing all security and tactical related assessments, with generally average basic skills in other branches of service, similar to many others in security. She has never shown major interest in general engineering, but still began her career with the more technical Weapons Development. Her interest here appears to have diminished in comparison to other areas of security, which can be seen from her latest assessments, with her results in these starting to slip, especially in theory. During this, her general combat, fitness and tactical assessment results improved. This change occurred near the end of her weapons development career, but weren't noticed until her transfer request to what she described as 'A security assignment that involved actually using the guns, rather than making them'.
Biographical Information:
Pre-Academy
Costello was born to Dr Julia and Commander Aaron Costello. Her parents came from completely different backgrounds Her mother came from from a relatively high-status family, and had been a doctor all her life. Her father however, used to work in civilian gang control, before moving to become a relatively successful StarFleet officer. He followed the security branch of service, and by the time Alicia was born he was Chief of Security on board DS4 (Although was on leave at the time). Her parents being from such different backgrounds and in different professions, they were hardly ever anywhere near each other, meaning that Alicia spent a lot of time on starships from a young age being transported between her parents. When she was old enough to recognise what they were, she was fascinated by all the weapons on board space faring vessels. This fascination was a major contributor in her decision to join StarFleet.
Academy
Costello joined the academy in 2368. Her time in the academy proved successful. Though unconfirmed, there are many rumours of her being bullied in her first year. By the second year, these rumours had died down. This also correlated with a great improvement in her hand-to-hand combat assessments. During the academy, especially after the first year, Alicia spent all of her free time in many hand-to-hand fighting classes and related martial arts. In her final assessment for hand-to-hand combat she was challenged by holograms of Klingons, Romulans and a rogue Vulcan. She defeated these with little difficulty, and her instructor (A relatively young Vulcan who has preferred to remain anonymous) decided that he would see how good she really was, and took her in himself. By the end, he came out with two broken ribs, a dislocated arm and a sprained ankle. After receiving medical attention, he decided that would be his last year teaching at the academy. Costello completed the rest of her assessments with little difficulty.
Weapons Development
Costello's StarFleet career began in weapons development. Graduating the academy in 2372, she was assigned the rank of chief petty officer with the position of junior weapons engineer. She spent the majority of this time repairing prototype weaponry, rather than doing much in the way of development. On one occasion mid-way through 2373, while one of her seniors was on leave, she began work on a synaptic disruptor for use extreme distance. By the time her senior had returned, she had gone through several prototypes, the latest of which experimented with prozac-based technological theory. The resultant effect temporarily rendered the main synapses of the CNS impassable. This effect lasted long enough for the homeostasis systems to be completely neutralised, and for several key areas to suffer from major oxygen deprivation. These combined effects proved extremely effective at neutralising targets. This development, though nowhere near perfect, gained Costello recognition within the weapons development organisation, along with a promotion to Ensign, and the new position of Weapons Development Officer. Though she engaged in many projects through her weapons development career, Costello has continually worked on her synaptic disruptor, along with other weapons based on a similar effect. It is believed that she herself carries a pistol-sized variant, although this is unconfirmed. Her weapons development career came to a close in 2374, when she found the opportunity to transfer to Qo'noS as a security officer.
Early Security Officer
Costello's first security assignment was on Qo'noS, where she was a security officer attached to the Federation Embassy. At the beginning of her time at the embassy, she was simply part of the security team, and as such undertook various basic security duties. Relatively soon (later that year) the was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, and took the post of Ambassadorial Bodyguard, where she protected Leona Mason and where appropriate her accompanying entourage. While in this posting, she dealt with multiple incidents involving the Red Dawn movement (which was far smaller than the organisation known today), including violent protests and similar outside the embassy, and assassination attempts upon diplomatic personnel. At the end of 2374, Costello expressed an interest in officially retiring her Weapons Development specialisation, and training in strategic infiltration missions, and was reassigned as a result.
