Date of Birth: August 8th, 1991 (Age 34)
Birthplace: Shanghai, China
Position: Senior Colonel in The People's Liberation Army
Education: BA in Political Science from Harvard University
Bio: He Jianyu was born in Shanghai in 1991 to two working class parents. While Jianyu's father wanted a son who could continue his family's military tradition, her mother convinced him that the child would be born male to prevent him from deciding to give the baby away before Jianyu's birth. When Jianyu's father realized the gender of his child, he was initially furious, but was quickly subdued as he became very fond of his new baby daughter.
As a child, Jianyu excelled at school. After realizing that their daughter had a penchant for English, Jianyu's parents made their daughter attend special English language programs so that she could study in the United States. By Age 17, Jianyu had earned enough scholarships to go to the United States and study at Harvard. Despite graduating four years later with a bachelors of arts in Political Science, Jianyu returned to China and decided to enlist in the People's Liberation Army Air Force.
He Jianyu became famous in the Chinese military in 2024 when she successfully discovered and prevented a North Korean plot to drop small nuclear devices on Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.Using her newfound fame and her new rank as Senior Colonel, Jianyu spoke out against certain practices of the Chinese government, hoping that her new, prominent position would give her leverage to affect politics in the country.
As part of its agreement with the United States, China stipulated that the Ironman could be operated by the United States Air Force if and only if the captain of the ship could be a member of the Chinese military. Seeing this position as an opportunity to advance the Chinese military into space as well as get rid of a vocal, somewhat troublesome officer, The Chinese Government chose He Jianyu to fill the role. He Jianyu is now en route to the SS Ironman, knowing that her government has simultaneously given her the most important assignment ever and sent her into the darkness of space where her strong beliefs could no longer influence public opinion.
Diversity indeed. Kudos on becoming Chinese! :)
