Title: 'Blade of Olympus' Discussion Thread

It started with a reminder of a story-arc seemingly abandoned. Was Renee Hampton involved in the death of Ryan Burke's son in San Francisco? We learnt that Burke's story was in fact partially accurate. Hampton was on G'rath's staff - but the details remain unclear and pale in to unimportance compared to what else was happening that day.

Asteroid Base: Alpha has been crippled, coinciding with the death of Sion Bryn and the incapacitation of Lexi Etis. The USS Athena has seemingly been destroyed with Amber Munro perishing on the Bridge - but not before claiming the lives of Abigail Watson and John Adams, with countless other injured as the ship was torn apart by the fear-inducingly named 'Blade of Olympus.'

It remains to be seen how the Accobar System is affected by the day's events. Was Amber right to try and play G'rath at his own game, having already been countered at every turn? Would the battle have gone differently if the Athena had waited for support - or would more lives simply have been lost? Will the survivors make it to the Rageth Penal Colony? Did the Athena strike the Olympus, or was she ripped apart before the collision?

Two episodes remain. Answers are coming.

Thank you for attending. If all attendees could kindly leave a vote. All feedback is encouraged and very much appreciated - positive and negative. Rate and discuss, above and below.  :)

I rated the episode a good. Mostly because I don't want Amber to die  :'(

The episode itself was rather well written and implemented and I have to say that I did like it, it was a shame that the CE went AFK though but it was good to have Timor there to kind of help along.

You just have to have the guardian or some other ship swoop in and save the Captain now :P

I rated the episode as excellent because that's what it was. The sort of wrap-up to the long-running Amber Munro condition was definitely interesting. However, I have to wonder whether the woman is really dead having seemingly pulled a Picard and ramming her ship into G'rath's. I wasn't there for the episodes concerning G'rath so I will have to review those before I post a more detailed analysis about those events.

As for the Athena, the crew seemed to be getting along as we left them, with the addition of Tim Rogan who had already been on the Athena for the entirety of its journey to killing G'rath. The crew from Pioneer quickly jumped in and helped out on the ship while an already dying Amber sought to revenge her beloved Asteroid Base: Alpha and finally finish what she feels G'rath left unfinished after the attack on Earth so long ago.

So. The Athena destroyed. Amber dead. The crew headed for the Penal Colony... or are they? Is the Athena gone? There's no doubt about this in my head. The Athena was toast the moment Amber pointed her at the Olympus and set ramming speed. Is Amber dead? Personally, I think we're going to continue seeing her until the final episode of the SRP. I COULD be wrong, and I likely am, but that's my personal opinion.

My real concern is what will happen when the crew finally gets rescued and the Pioneer crew get back to the station. Undoubtedly Mark Chaplain will have a say in all of these matters. The Pioneer crew just witnessed what could be their final battle with their old Captain. What of the old AB:Alpha crew? Will they return to the station they've spent so much time on? This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened to them after all...

Last time the Athena  did this sort of thing, it was over the atmosphere of Earth and a passing FNN vessel saved her as she went down. This time, it seems that there is nothing that can save Amber. I almost have to stop and wonder whether there will be a surprise rescue by Hampton? A lot has happened since we all first set foot on Asteroid Base: Alpha all that time ago. When Captain Amber Munro took that first brave new step into unexplored territories, Romulan plots, and Federation conspiracies. This crew has been through a lot and in a way the AB/AF timeline has been intertwined in an odd way...

And what of Daniel Thrace in all of this? Surely he won't simply return to existence only to be met with death and destruction, right? Many things have changed since he went on his journey. What will he do about it all, I wonder...?
