Super-hero syndrome (SHS), also known as "Superman or James Bond Syndrome" is the term used to describe an instance were an individual creates a character that possesses super-hero abilities that is somewhat uncharacteristic within the Star Trek era. A character capable of solving every problematic scenario within a mission or dominating a plot is a character portraying "super-hero-syndrome" (SHS) and thus detracts from the fun of a mission or plot.

Disadvantages of "super-hero-syndrome" (SHS) include minimizing the enjoyment for other members, having the "super-hero" character being left out of the main plot or sub-plots and, in certain circumstances, having Command to deliver a reprimand.

An example of "super-hero-syndrome" (SHS) includes having a character, possibly an unarmed Terran defeating twelve, armed Jem'Hadar.

In the realm of Star Trek and the televised series, problems that arose had to be solved with a specified time; commonly one hour. In an RPG environment, solving a problem that quickly causes problems to occur.

Example:

CSO: Sir! Five Romulan Warbirds decloaking off the starboard bow!
CO: Weapon Status?
CoS: They're armed!
CO: Red alert! *ships fire*
CE: Sir! Shields are down!
CoS: Firing! I'll use one of my special maneuvers! *two seconds later* Sir, I've destroyed them all!

Others include continually saving the day in plots... let others save the day sometime. If you have any questions, please contact someone in the academy staff.

I hope that this helps everyone become better, more seasoned RP'ers. :)
