The Last Outpost

Background: In the year 2374, the Romulan Star Empire launched a series of initiatives to expand their resource collection within their own borders. By 2376, the Star Empire had amassed an armada they assumed could destroy the Federation and all of her allies. In 2377, they tried. The armada, lead by Commander Te'Farj, made it to the Button Sector of the Neutral Zone before they were entirely disabled and most of the armada destroyed. The remaining vessels retreated and the Star Empire waited for the retaliation. It never came.

In 2379, relations between the Star Empire and the Federation were improving drastically. These improvements came with a photo op between the President of the United Federation of Planets and the Praetor of the Romulan Senate. At this photo op, it was announced that the Federation and Romulan Senate would be collaborating on a project: Station Nerada. Placed in the exact middle of the Neutral Zone, it would act as a center for Science in the entire galaxy. Both parties hoped this would build up enough diplomatic stature with each other to open future negotiations. This is where the story of the crew begins...

The Station: Scientific Mandate uses the USS Ariana (http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/USS_Ariana;86361) map for the station. Each Romulan and Federation crewmember has a rank based on their standing within their respective powers. These ranks can be found here in this hyperlink (http://www.mediafire.com/download/p2nz1b8aqlgtb11/zzzzzrpgx_default_rom.pk3). The station itself was built by Starfleet Engineering and those working on it have been sworn to secrecy on it's specifications. What is known is that there are 4 decks of scientific equipment located below the habitable decks of the station. The power source for these decks is unknown and the systems maintain themselves via automation. Welcome aboard!

This is a footnote to remind everyone that Scientific Mandate is a spiritual successor to Asteroid Base/Asteroid Field. There will be plotlines and characters that you are familiar with, but they will all be played out differently than you know from the Asteroid Base/Asteroid Field universe. Also remember that this is set before the time of Asteroid Base or Asteroid Field. Thank you and I look forward to our future endeavours together!

Hey, everyone!

As you're aware, the RPG-X Ultimate Edition client was just released yesterday. It contains a plethora of add-ons, including Ariana. For maximum compatibility, the Ariana PK3s were modified to allow version 3 and version 2 to be used together in Ultimate Edition.

USS_Ariana will now load beta 3 on the server. This is the version without the moon base.
USS_Ariana_V2 will now load beta 2 on the server. This is the version with the moon base.

If you aren't using the Ultimate Edition client, you will need to download the new USS_Ariana_V2.pk3 file to use the most advanced version of Ariana. You can grab it here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Fu5J1iswHiVDJMOUkwLVpKdHc/edit?usp=sharing).

The new version of Ariana is here and you must download V2 or you will encounter serious issues upon entering the server. First, please delete any ariana pk3's before installing the v2 version
