Title: Award Announcements- December 2014
Post by: Jenson on December 13, 2014, 09:13:04 AM
Hello everyone,

As mentioned in my post earlier this month, we will be moving to presenting a small amount of promotions and awards each month instead of presenting a large chunk of awards every 3-6 months at community day. This will allow us to recognize achievements closer to "real time". This month, the list of awards is a bit long as we had to look at contributions over the past 4-5 months, but things will normalize starting next month.

Here is a list of everyone who received an award for this past quarter. These awards were given out by various division/department heads in recognition of these member's contributions in their division/department or the wider community at large! The text following their awards is the reasoning given by a member of the Cabinet as to why they were given these award(s). They are presented in no particular order:

Criminula:
   •   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Commander Jenny Daniels (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)
   •   Outstanding Serial Roleplay Award for the role of Commander Jenny Daniels (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)

I feel that Criminula's character has been a pivotal force in shaping Ecclesiastes and that his intuition with the character's behavior has led to some defining moments for the series, such as when Jenny and Giovanni broke Starfleet's imposed quarantine to try and gather evidence to exonerate Director Blackwood from a slanted prosecution. It was a gutsy move that, while not entirely anticipated by the showrunners, naturally fed into the story and set up for an even more dramatic conclusion than originally planned.

Grizz:
   •   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Captain Sophia Mason (Star Trek: Asteroid Field)
   •   Outstanding Serial Roleplay Award for creating Star Trek: Asteroid Field
   •   TLO Spirit Award for creating Star Trek: Asteroid Field

Grizz has created what is arguably one of the most enduring pieces of Star Trek ever produced, and continues to excel in maintaining interest in the amazingly complex tale of the Accobar system. Its continued success serves as a symbol of TLO's spirit, bringing so many players together over the years to experience the adventure on the dangerous frontiers of Pioneer Station.

She's brought many characters to life over the years, most recently, Sophia Mason. Her struggles with her family heritage, inheriting command of a troubled Starfleet operation, and recent tragic loss added a very human element to the series that would have been sorely missed had it not been there.

Martin Thompson:
   •   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Doctor Lissan Aurora (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)
   •   Outstanding Serial Roleplay Award for the role of Doctor Lissan Aurora (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)

Doctor Aurora is a pillar of Ecclesiastes, being the only civilian on board, but also having a remarkably high security clearance that surrounds her with a sense of mystery. Martin handles his character's interactions gracefully, and his work as co-writer of the series since Klaw's departure has been nothing short of exceptional.

SFC3:
   •   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Commander Michael Barnes (Star Trek: Asteroid Field)
   •   Outstanding Serial Roleplay Award for the role of Commander Michael Barnes (Star Trek: Asteroid Field)

SFC3 was tasked with saying goodbye to a character he'd spent a long time developing, and handled this task with dignity and grace. Commander Barnes was a central presence on Pioneer Station, and his death and the subsequent fallout have paved the way for some new, unpredictable elements in the Accobar saga.

Telex Ferra:
   •   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Director James Blackwood (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)
   •   Outstanding Serial Roleplay Award for creating Star Trek: Ecclesiastes
   •   TLO Spirit Award for creating Star Trek: Ecclesiastes

Telex has co-created what is arguably the most compelling serial roleplay since Star Trek: Asteroid Base. Impressive attendance and sustained success can be directly attributed to her creative storytelling and original ideas. She's also brought some memorable characters to the table, like James Blackwood, a flawed but dedicated leader who gets the job done, despite some questionable decisions that may haunt him for the rest of his career.

Ecclesiastes is a triumph over recent troubles, continuing to bring in unprecedented interest despite the community's unrest over the future of RPG-X. Through Ecclesiastes, Telex has proved that there's still a viable future for new stories in RPG-X.

Lucas Picard:
   •   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Ensign Logan Jamison (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)

Lucas played an undercover bad guy for the entirety of Ecclesiastes' first season without hamming it up. From experience I know a lot of people can't handle this, but Lucas was able to RP the character normally while knowing that he was secretly a mole. For this, I think Lucas deserves the recognition of the outstanding roleplayer award.

Scott Archer:
•   Outstanding Roleplayer Award for the role of Lieutenant Commander Mike Lucsly (Star Trek: Ecclesiastes)
•   Good Conduct Award
•   TLO Spirit Award

Scott Archer consistently attended Ecclesiastes and always enhanced the story with his presence. Archer's characters are engaging and diverse, displaying his ability to seamlessly take on very different roles. For his consistent attendance and ability to play a variety of different characters, Scott Archer deserves the recognition of the outstanding roleplayer award.

Scott has also maintained a clean disciplinary record in TLO, and has always been willing to lend a helping hand to anyone needing help in the forums. He also recently joined the RPG-X staff, and has done excellent work in promoting the RPG-X mod to the wider Star Trek community. His enthusiasm and passion for TLO is infectious, and for the reasons Scott Archer also deserves the Good Conduct and TLO Spirit awards.

Serris:
•   Distinguished Service Award given by a unanimous vote of the Cabinet
•   TLO Spirit Award
•   Good Conduct Award

While Serris has never, to me knowledge, been the head of a department, his contributions to TLO have been significant and numerous. From patching up RPG-XUE/RPG-XSE to tweaking our game servers, from managing RPG-X Leadership tasks to helping newer RPers find their footing while making (m)SRPs, Serris has been the most active and productive RPG-X XO TLO has ever seen.

Serris' dedication to this community is made clear by all the work he has put in just since he joined in earnest earlier this year.  I know that I can count on him not only to do his job, but also to assist me in doing things for the group that are technically beyond our purview as RPG-X staff. (advertising, investigating games to branch into etc.) Therefore, we are pleased to present him with the DSA, the TLO Spirit Award, and a Good Conduct Award.

Jim:
•   TLO Spirit Award
•   Fleet Veteran Award

For his service as STO CO, donating to the fleet, being at the top of the leaderboards, and being optimistic in the worst of situations (his enthusiasm is infectious!), I am pleased to present him with the TLO Spirit Award and the Fleet Veteran Award. Thank you Jim for you service to the STO division!

Medicman895 (Dan):
•   Fleet Veteran Award
•   Promotion to the next STO Fleet Rank

This award and promotion is presented to Medicman for his activity within the TLO STO fleet, and for his many contributions to the TLO starbase over the past few months.

GSIO01:
•   Fleet Veteran Award

For his activity and contributions to the TLO starbase in the STO fleet, I am pleased to present GSI with the Fleet Veteran Award.

Himble:
•   Fleet Veteran Award

Himble remains near the top of most of the starbase contribution leaderboards! Therefore, for his activity and contributions to the TLO starbase in the STO fleet, I am pleased to present him with the Fleet Veteran Award.

Spock
•   Fleet Veteran Award

For his activity and contributions to the TLO starbase in the STO fleet, I am pleased to present him with the Fleet Veteran Award.

Congratulations to everyone who received an award!  ^_^
