Doctor Coal, I will personally make sure you are held responsible for what happened in that Brig. But for now, get to tracking the position of that Fortress.
The crew faced their own personal Kobayashi Maru in this episode. We introduced Lieutenant Ashley Johansen (played by Dendo Hellen) in this episode, a Starfleet Liasion stationed aboard a Romulan Republic vessel. Hours after the events of "Downtime", Commander S'lan has been given a clean bill of health, and Doctor Coal has taken the interrogation of the captured Voth Stalker into his own hands.
However, nothing is as it seems when a Romulan Republic fleet arrives at the station, and the Lieutenant beams to the station as a liasion. Claiming that the fleet is only here for the Spire and Obelisk's protection, none of the crew have been informed about this sudden decision. Their confusion will have to wait as they detect an incoming Elachi invasion force, which plows through Allied Space on its way toward the Spire.
Tensions are at an all time high as the crew question Johansen for information. Things begin to heat and the Elachi pick the perfect time to assault the station with troops. One by one, the crew members are slowly "killed". S'lan is the last to go, and eventually the Elachi control the station. That's when Johansen ends the program - they were on the Aeolus' holodeck the entire time! The scenario was a team-building excerise authorized by Admiral Amargo and Subcommander Kaol. However, things take a turn for the worst when Coal reappears.
The crew is shocked and slightly perturbed by the revelation that Doctor Coal has murdered the Voth stalker after discovering that it was the same Voth who slaughtered his crew prior to the arrival of Task Force Discovery. Coal also learns of an impending Voth invasion on the Spire, one which can be stopped if he is allowed to trace the Voth's transmissions back to the Voth Fortress Vessel.
Next time on Star Trek: Discovery, we go over to Klingon territory and see what they're up to. The main story continues with "Against All Odds", as the Assault begins.

Good episode. Though the fact that people were being killed off haphazardly gave away the twist a bit :p
