Three years ago, Commander Mark Chaplain died aboard the station as a result of an external conflict which had spiraled out of control. When the life of another crew member is extinguished on the Promenade for similar reasons, Renee Hampton returns to with what she couldn't could before - deal with the aftermath.
The deaths of Walter Peirce and Ambassador Taval are becoming public knowledge - and despite the Klingons allegedly claiming responsibility, the Empire is convinced that their implication is part of a Federation conspiracy in coordination with the Romulans, who are preparing to act on the death of their envoy. The Taylor Peace Agreement signed aboard Pioneer in 2385 seems a distant memory as forces from all sides clash in the Tyrella Sector, with the
Hera caught in the middle, carrying Klingon Ambassador Ka'teth and the new Romulan Ambassador...
For now, everybody seems unaware that the entire situation has been conceived by one woman, somewhere in the Alpha Quadrant, preparing to strike...

A Brief Introduction to 'External Affairs' by Grizz
Nobody likes the political episodes, I know, I know...
But this one has a lot more going for it than previous installments, I think. It's a self-contained murder mystery, for a start, with the victim being a long-running character aboard Pioneer. We're getting our first update in some time from a post-Hobus Romulan Empire, with the introduction of Taval's replacement. Doctor Hampton is back and this time even her faith in Pioneer has started to waver - returning to a station which now holds very few of her original team. With any good mystery, we have twists and turns as we steer towards the culprit. We have a three-way starship battle during a plasma storm. We have another appearance from Devlin Marks...
Of course these events are all playing out due to the actions of The Director, making them all that more significant. The final scene should certainly accelerate things as we head in to the final episodes...
This is today! I added Station Iowa, but I'm sure you all have it by now..
