The year is 2384. It is the day that G'rath's presidency came to an explosive conclusion during the Battle over Earth. It is the day that Captain Amber Munro and the crew of Asteroid Base: Alpha led the rebellious charge against a corrupt administration which had infected Starfleet Command. But what was happening on the other side of the battle lines?
Commander Maria Vega is serving as First Officer aboard the USS Apollo within the First Fleet. The Apollo's mission is to defend Earth and the President of the United Federation of Planets from the band of traitors en-route to attack.
But Vega has a mission of her own. One which The Director has assigned to her.

There are three scripted scenes - and the beginning and the end - of this episode. For the rest of the time, you will be tasked with playing a member of the Apollo's crew, so please prepare a new character name!
You're Earth's last line of defense against the "traitors" coming to take down the President. But as many know, this is not a fair, just and honest President. He was Frank Underwood before Frank Underwood. He orchestrated an assassination attempt on his predecessor and has since operated from the shadows to silence the Starfleet officers in the Accobar System who know his true colors. Of course, others have their suspicions about his Presidency, and don't be afraid to show that conflict yourselves. Many ships have already rallied against him - there's nothing stopping the Apollo from falling in line if it's crew were to turn.
Most of you will be playing your usual roles (CE / CMO / OPS etc), though I will be making certain changes due to the nature of the episode and that it's ship based, so if you get a PM from me - you're one of them!
For the Apollo character, is it okay to just play Satterfield with a different name, or should I make a distinct character?
If you want to have a relative be serving aboard, that's fine. Bearing in mind that it's set six years prior to the current Asteroid Field time.
That wasn't really what I was trying to ask.
Do I have to make a whole new character (new personality, face model, backstory, etc), post it in the character roster, and do all that jazz? Or are these more temporary characters that can be just knocked together.

Pushed the season back a week to recover some members for the penultimate episode (Ep 12) - as it's effectively the climax of this season's storyline and sets up the next season (it's more of a finale than the finale, really). The more people there, as opposed to reading about it later, the better for all involved :P

An Introduction to 'Internal Affairs'
The Starfleet protectors of the Accobar System played a pivotal role in Federation history in 2384. The collapse of the nefarious G'rath administration paved the way for a cleaner Government and a more trustworthy Starfleet, the construction of Pioneer Station and the inauguration of Olivia Taylor which placed Renee Hampton and Mark Chaplain in a position to bring unprecedented political stability to the Tyrella Sector and spearhead historic negotiations between the Federation, the Klingon and Romulan Empires. But the outcome could have been very different.
Some of you were there to see these events take place aboard the USS Athena under Captain Amber Munro. Now we're going to see the final battle over Earth. It had all the beginnings of a civil war and people on all sides had to make tough decisions to reach a favorable outcome. One of those people was Commander Maria Vega - acting first officer of the USS Apollo, of the First Fleet. The mission of the Apollo and its Captain is a simple one. Protect and defend the President of the United Federation of Planets against the 'traitors' en-route to remove him from office. But that is not Vega's mission. The Director has other plans for her - and you will all have your part to play.
Speaking of The Director, you will of course see the meeting between herself and Captain Mason in the present day, as Pioneer's absent Commanding Officer learns the details of Operation: Dark Star prior to its launch next week.
Notes on key figures from this era will be provided, tomorrow. Though knowledge from seasons gone is not a necessity.
Just to round off a terrible week, my PSU blew and I don't yet know how much was taken with it. The SRP will be on hold until I can get back online.
