Nearly a year has passed since the events that led to the greatest loss of life Earth has seen in almost 100 years; and the planet is still rebuildiing.
Entire cities and towns in Florida still stand only as rubble buried under a caved in crater, More then 200,000 people still remain missing since the attack and are believed to be dead. The United Earth Government is on edge, and pressure is coming down on Starfleet to ensure restitution - or maybe just revenge.
Enterprise has been gone since the attack, and for the last few months Starfleet has heard nothing from Earth's Flagship. Fearing the worst, the United Earth Government issued a general order to Starfleet Command to prepare another ship to enter the Delphic Expanse.
With Columbia still nearly a year away, due largely to a number of setbacks with their hull plating enhancements, and their nacelle Housings not being built to specs - Starfleet rushed into a new direction.
Recalling one of the First Warp 2 Earth vessels for a refit wasn't exactly the most preferred option, never the less - Starfleet Corps of Engineers swears that the ship was fit for the job, and that ships today "aren't built like they used to".
Daedalus, which was at one time the fastest Earth ship in the United Earth Space Probe Agency, was absorbed into Starfleet when the charter was signed and was now about to reclaim her title as the fastest Earth ship in the fleet. Being fit with a still experimental Warp 7 Engine, Daedalus is currently sitting in Jupiter Station awaiting her mission after nearly 9 months in dock...
Commmanding Officer's Notes (Spoilers to follow, read at your own risk)
*To anyone who's reading this, This spoiler may change a bit between now and the episode start, feel free to check up on it as we go along through the week. By default, I use blue to notate items in the original text, green, red, and orange will be used for any changes/updates to this information. after the Original is published Also please, Don't spoil anything for anyone - because we don't know who's reading this and who isn't. So keep discussion of what follows between you and me
privately.*
The Story Starts on Earth, Where Commander Walter Pierce offers an open lecture at Starfleet Command on Inter-species relations. Starfleet hopes that the Xenophobic mentality on earth, which spawned after the Xindi attack, can be battled with mutual cooperation between friendly species and knowledge that not everyone is out to kill humanity. On the Panel sits Doctor Sylis, of Vulcan, Vavia P'Trell, of Andoria and a newcomer to Earth a Caitian named Sheia K'ress.
Not Missing a beat, Pierce has made the seminar mandatory for all senior officers on his soon to be new command. *- All of this serves as a way for everyone to introduce themselves, the majority of the focus may rest on the three aliens, but everyone has an opportunity to pose questions, and show off who they are during this session.*
While the Seminar goes on, Starfleet's Command Council deliberates with the Head of The Starfleet Corps of Engineers about the Xindi crisis, and the status of Daedalus. This meeting eventually interrupts Pierce's Lecture, as he's called away to join their discussion. *-At this point, I need three people to "head up" to Daedalus for some purpose... and take over the portrayal of Commodore Rick Peters - Supervisor of the Warp 7 Project, Captain (Name Here) - Head of the Corps of Engineers, and Colonel Benjamin Foster of Military Assault Command (MACO),
Rick Peters is one of the first 5 people to have signed the Starfleet Charter. He was an Engineer in UESPA and helped to break in Daedalus during the days before Starfleet. He Worked on the Warp 5 Project, and is now supervising the Warp 7 Project. He's an easy going guy, and a close personal friend of Walter Pierce.
Benjamin Foster is a typical Jar head. Military to the bone. He's not a fan of the idea of Daedalus being sent out without a MACO contingent and cites Enterprise as precedent for the need. Foster is gruff, but reasonable and will ultimately compromise with a light contingent of MACOS on Daedalus.
During this discussion, The Crew is free to roam about, and interact at their convenience - these interactions are VERY Important because RP's REALLY REALLY Lack without downtime interactions.
With the meeting complete, and Pierce's Promotion now official, The Rush is on to finish filling a number of open senior posts. Namely, an Executive Officer, a Chief Science Officer, and a Chief Medical Officer. Daedalus Launches in 12 Hours, with or without a full command staff. -*We'll leave without an XO, When Pierce leans that the Commander he wanted for the job just took command of the Essex
Slowly, the Crew start heading to Daedalus with the last of these people being Pierce. Onboard, We meet the Chief of the Boat (CoB) who is helping the CE and a team of exhausted engineers clean up the mess that is Engineering. -*The Warp core is still largely in pieces, and the EPS grid is less than stable - and these are the smallest of the problems. 12 hours to go, and it's all hands on deck.
Once Pierce comes up -*He Chose to be the First Crewman to be beamed up to the ship, there's 4 hours until launch. The pieces are coming together and the Daedalus is ready for her Captain's Inspection.
The Story ends when Pierce finishes his Speech, and The ship launches into warp.
*Updated* As per a mention I made a while back, I included an outline of the Story as a whole in a spoiler box.
You are free to read it - but you are
*NOT* required to. This Episode is pretty light from twists and turns, as it serves mostly as an introduction to our characters, and our setting - but in the future, these outlines could take some of the shock that I want to convey in the tale away. You may come to find spoiler boxes inside of spoiler boxes. These will be the big twists (if I even choose to expose them at all :P)
lastly, a note that I had in the spoiler box which I feel needs to be shared openly...
There will be a scene where 4 characters are discussing important plot points, you'll want to pay attention to this - but at the same time...
Quote...The Crew is free to roam about, and interact at their convenience - these interactions are VERY Important because RP's REALLY REALLY Lack without downtime interactions
Once more for emphasis...

Stay Tuned for Download Links and updates throughout the week! See you all Saturday!
I almost forgot, I need 3 volunteers for special postings.
Commodore Rick Peters, Supervisor of the warp 7 Project
Colonel Benjamin Foster, MACO commander.
And A Captain from the corps of engineers.
Here's some poop on the two named characters:
Rick Peters is one of the first 5 people to have signed the Starfleet Charter. He was an Engineer in UESPA and helped to break in Daedalus during the days before Starfleet. He Worked on the Warp 5 Project, and is now supervising the Warp 7 Project. He's an easy going guy, and a close personal friend of Walter Pierce. Model: Renner
Model: Munro
Let me know if you're up for taking on one of these characters for the tail end of the earth scenes.
I thought it was decent, though the passing seemed off at times.
We seemed to spend way too much time on Earth, specifically in the classroom. Also we spent a little too much time preparing to leave. (Though this one is probably paretially my fault) As a consequence, the departure scene felt rushed and the cliffhanger felt a little awkward.
I'm excited to see where this is going once people start comign consistently and the story gets on its feet.
