Title: RPG-X 2.4 Testing and Connection Information
Post by: Telex Ferra on June 17, 2016, 09:50:56 PM
RPG-Xers,

Today is the day you've been waiting for. Maarten and I are pleased to announce an open beta for RPG-X 2.4. This beta includes many, many bugfixes and general quality-of-life fixes that you will all enjoy. For example

- The model menu will always load instantly rather than stalling the game.
- Player IDs in the tab menu are always correct from the moment players appear on the server
- Many map crashes, including those on the dreadnaught maps and on station iowa have been fixed.
- RPG-X no longer requires a custom shortcut to start correctly.

This is only a small portion of the fixes that you'll find in the new 2.4 beta. Also, since all of the fixes in this beta are strictly client side or server side, you should still be able to connect to all RPG-X 2.3.8 servers with the new RPG-X beta including the TLO server.

You can find our site for managing the test server along with download links here. (http://testservermanager.withmartin.net/)

Be sure to download builds for the Develop branch (the 2.4 Beta) and not the master branch (2.3.8). Also, be sure to create a backup of your RPG-X installation before upgrading to 2.4 Beta. When you download the beta files, extract them to your RPG-XUE/RPG-XCE directory, maintaining the folder structure in the download. (e.g. the files in the RPG-X2 folder in the download go into your RPG-X2 folder).

You can connect to our test server by starting the game, opening the console, and typing

/connect 86.90.137.246

This beta is an open beta, and that means for the whole RPG-X community. If you know anyone in another group that would like to try the beta, please feel free to invite them to participate. Your feedback is very important to us, and the more bug reports and comments we receive, the better we can make RPG-X 2.4 before release.

Please post all comments/bug reports for RPG-X 2.4 in the development forum (http://www.last-outpost.net/forum/index.php/board,414.0.html)

Please post any installation issues or general comments here in this thread.

Have fun,

- Telex Ferra
