Alright, so I have finally found out why ioEF is deciding not to work for me. I checked the console after a crash and it said that I have an outdated version (RPG-X v2.2 beta 1). But I do for a fact have beta 8.1 paris. I can run ioCow just fine, but it never saves my class and rank set-up. Also I get hit with an error message after every time I quit the program, and it says "VM_Free(ui) on running vm. Copy console to clipboard?" This is extremely annoying, considering I had ioEF running the first few times I set it up. I've re-installed ioEf a few times, and re-installed v2.2 Beta 8.1 Paris as well. I'm at a loss guys. Work your techy magic please?
"VM_Free(ui) on running vm. Copy console to clipboard?"
Is an error that RPG-X EF trows regularily. It looks to me that you are using the RPG-X v2.2 pak5 beta 8.1 with RPG-X EF and not with ioEF or ioCow.
Are you sure you put the paks in the correct folder and are loading up the correct version of Elite Force when you click your desktop shortcut?
You can check this by right-clicking your shortcut, then looking in the "Target" line, it should look something like this:
D:RavenioEFiostvoyHM-1.37.exe +set fs_game RPG-X2
Now the moest important part is that it says somewhere "iostvoyHM-1.37.exe" if you are running ioEF (I dont know what it should be for ioCow).
If that line reads "rpgxEF.exe" somewhere, you are booting up the RPG-X EF, which is incompatible with the beta 8.1 pak and you require the 8.4.4 pak.
Follow Martin's advice and let us know if that helps, but you might also want to know:
The vm_free error is a harmless bug in the current version of ioCow; it doesn't affect anything.
You might need to run ioCow as administrator in order to save your configuration, depending on where you've installed it.
You don't need ioCow and ioEF. They both do the same thing.
Where have you installed ioCow/ioEF and what files are in your RPG-X2 directory?
I have EF stored in an external hard-drive so as to save space on my laptop. And the ioEF shortcut doesn't have rpgxEF.exe in the target ine anywhere. Should I just try to install the 8.4.4? Will that mess up my game, considering I already have 8.1 installed?
It might be because you're missing the DLL's... this happened to me.
Where can I get these dlls?
They should be in the rpg-xEF zip you downloaded
