when i try to change the path from the standard to "C:rpgxEFrpgxEF.exe" +set fs_game RPG-X2 +sv_pure 0 +set com_hunkmegs 512 +set vm_ui 0 +set vm_game 0 +set vm_cgame 0 +set fs_homepath C:rpgxEF in the properties menu it comes up with the following error message

The name 'C:rpgxEFrpgxEF.exe' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct

any bright ideas?

Did you make sure that this line is there?

EDIT: Also, did you try simply creating a new shortcut? You might also try giving the executable administrative rights (if you are running Win7 or Vista that is)

Yeh it is only it read C:program filesrpgxEF

So i moved my rpgxef folder to my C:         directory and it works now. perhaps the tutorial should be updated?

The tutorial says pretty clearly the directory needs to be C:rpgxEF, as does the shortcut... what needs updating?
