2nd Anniversary - The Continuation![/align:3snfewqx]

Dearest members of The Last Outpost! TLO is 2 years old! You are cordially invited to attend any/all of the 3 events coming up in the near future! Below is an outline of each event and what you can expect!! So come and be merry and enjoy the company of your fellow TLO members as you laugh and play and have fun, all in the name of Anniversary Celebration!

============Minecraft: Building Competition============[/align:3snfewqx]

What is it?: This is the building competition, very similar to what you did in the past. There be a twist! This competition will have a slightly different venue than previously! You will be... building in space! So get your thinking caps on and get creative!

When is it?: Due to the slight temporal anomaly occurring at the 'Day in the Life' event, all times will be posted in BST, GMT, and EST. This event will be occurring this Saturday, July 14th at 18:00 BST, 17:00 GMT, 13:00 EST. The event will be running for 2 hours, or until 20:00 BST, 19:00 GMT, 15:00 EST.

Who is it for?: Why you wonderful people of course! So come on down and have a jolly good time!

Where is it?: This event will take place in the space world on the minecraft server. If you need an address, it's mc.last-outpost.net

============RPG-X Grand Surprise============[/align:3snfewqx]

What is it?: This... this is the culmination of 2 weeks work from TalusRoben and Andzzy (Your Event Senators). It is confirmed that this shall be a map for all of TLO to enjoy. What will be in it... now THAT is the surprise ;D. Come on out to discover what it holds!

When is it?: This date is yet to be determined. It shall be at the earliest convenience in the week though (unless everyone wants a weekend date for sure).

Who is it for?: <See Above>

Where is it?: This will occur on the RPG-X Serious Server. Come on down and see the 2 years of TLO celebrated in map format!

============Minecraft: Race for the Wool! (Postponed, date TBA)============[/align:3snfewqx]

What is it?: Race for the Wool is a very unique competition that pits teams against each other in a race to collect a specific number of coloured wool and place it on a pedestal! There's a catch though: the teams will have to race through a challenging obstacle course in order to get to the wool. It promises to be a magnificent time and so don't be afraid to show up and act as either participant or observer! Take note that this also occurs in survival mode (otherwise you'd just fly over everything and place random wool everywhere! Where would the fun be in that?).

When is it?: This event takes place on Saturday, July 21st at the exact time as the Building Competition. As a reminder, that's 18:00 BST, 17:00 GMT, 13:00 EST. This event can run anywhere from 2-3 hours. Therefore, the set ending time is 21:00 BST, 20:00 GMT, 16:00 EST.

Where is it?: This event is taking place on a specially designed terrain, so arrive at the Minecraft server and receive your directions from there. The biggest guarantee is that you will have fun ;D

So there you have it! 3 more magnificent events for you to enjoy in the coming week! Thank you to xHellfire and Criminula for hosting these magnificent Minecraft events. Thanks be to Senators for organizing the Donations Drive (Thank you to all who are donating prizes etcetera) and thank you membership for being so awesome!! ^_^

December. Cheer for everyone!

Quote from: "xHellfire"Minecraft events are postponed until further notice as my monitor is broken.

Can't delete posts here but I seem to have a working temporary replacement, things should be still running in time.

I do have two proposals for the next building competition, whenever it may be:

  - Limit the number of time extension offers and how long they can be for - defeats the purpose after a while..

  - No mismatched number of members on one project - also defeats the purpose  ;)

I felt that one hour was a very short time to have any sort of building competition. I would prefer at least triple the time to actually construct something decent. With the time we were given (Ended up like 1 hour and 40 minutes?) we pretty much had to build without building a skeleton first, which usually turns out poorly.

As for your second point, you're just mad you got second place!  ;D

Edit:

For those interested, here's some screenshots! (In case anyone wonders; I'm using Dokucraft Dark as texturepack.)

Oh yes, green with envy  ;) :D  But obviously you can usually get more done with two than one working on a single construct.

As for the time limit, I think the idea is to come up with something you can actually build in one hour. Three hours would definitely be a long event! I said at the start I was pushing it just by building a ring. After around 45 minutes, I just had the outside finished, but managed to scrape the details in, in time.

What? Did an architect win the event? That hardly seems fair now, doesn't it? They've been doing this a while, after all :P.

Congratulations to all. To address the points:

1) Time Extensions?!? If the event is supposed to run 1.5 hours, then it's feasible to draw something up within that time. Time extensions should really only be given if and only if the person is very close to finishing off that intricate detail but is truly under the wire for time, IMHO.

2) Different numbers of members on projects? What is this, "Gang up on the people with 1-per-project" event? xD I am certain that we can work out having some of the events being team events and some being individual events. Perhaps something to think about for next time, eh? :P

3) (This wasn't really on the list) Next time, I shall try to have at least ONE Event Senator around to monitor how things are going so we can better plan your events :D. Thanks to Lerke for the screenies. I love your texture pack :D. I use... what's it called... ohhh let me go check now :P... Sphax PureBDCraft.

Aaaaand Good Job everyone who participated! I'm so glad everyone had fun! (Everyone had fun, right?) But! The question I don't have a concrete answer for yet: Who Won? xD

December. Cheer for everyone!

I'll take your criticism on board, the next time we run a building competition we'll try a longer period of construction - perhaps a week long competition would allow us to avoid the problem of overly long set events that not everyone can attend the full duration of and allow people to spend as long as they want on their creations. We can use the forum to announce winners if people can't make it to the final hour of it.

As you probably remember, we did carry out a poll during the event to make sure all players consented to the time extension, they weren't thrown out casually. On the second poll, not everyone consented and we started wrapping up the event.

Sorry for the delay, things are taking slightly longer than expected. I am optimistic that there shall be the grand unveiling this week at some point in time ^_^. Thank you for your continued patience.

December. Cheer for everyone!
