Production Code: 1x07
Episode Title: "Where There is Discord"
Writer: Grizz
Air Date: 23rd March 2013

Renee awakens on the day before the long-awaited Romulan Summit, but is secretly contacted by an unknown figure by means of an advanced communications device seemingly implanted while she slept. If she does not comply with their instructions and demands throughout the day, or attempts to alert the rest of the crew, an undisclosed attack will take place somewhere aboard Pioneer and Asteroid Base: Alpha. Ignorance or compliance may both signal an unpleasant end to a peace process which hasn't even begun yet.

You just met one half of the opposition. Prepare to meet the other. Don't worry, Mr. Willis, your excitement in Engineering is just around the corner.

1 ) Yes, that's Maggie Thatcher in the title. She's back for Episode 8, so can you tell what the title is yet?

2 ) This is a remote manipulation story I've wanted a reason to do for a while. There will be some fun moments, but there's a major threat at it's heart.

3 ) Last week we saw the Romulan splinter group make their presence felt. This time it's the ***************. ****** would be proud of **** when he ****** to ******.

4 ) Spock noted that Engineering wasn't seeing any action. GL HF.

5 ) The station's biggest threat now comes in the form of the Deputy Chief of Staff. Except nobody knows that. Yet.

6) The Romulan summit is literally a day away - Pioneer is gearing up as it's venue. Gaila's off-screen return is explained.

7 ) Before Hampton's day really begins, there's already an issue with the President's travel plans. It's a good thing Chaplain is recovering well - he's going to get quite the welcome home party.

8 ) Jemma Etis, come on down!

9 ) Just call him Hercules. Everybody does.

10 ) FNN returns in force to rip in to Pioneer's handling of the summit, Taylor's administration, Hampton's prominent position, Chaplain's abduction... amongst other things. I thought these guys liked us? Oh no, wait... that's the other station.

Check back on Wednesday for a full introduction to Episode Seven.

"No. No. No." - Margaret Thatcher on the EU.

Point 4 is all Talus's fault, he's the one that said it. I think he just wants my engineering to be as miserable as his was :P

You don't have to travel too far for the title.

Unfortunately the political references go past me, however I am looking forward to this episode!

A day later than expected, but you almost had next week's title yesterday. That would have been enough  ;)

An Introduction to... 'Where There is Discord' by Grizz

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace.
That where there is hatred I may bring love,
That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness,
That where there is discord, I may bring harmony,
That where there is error I may bring truth,
That where there is doubt I may bring faith,
That where there is despair I may bring hope,
That where there are shadows I may bring light,
That where there is sadness I may bring joy.

You would be forgiven for forgetting that there's more to Pioneer Station than bounty hunters, computer hackers, thieves, kidnappings, death and destruction. But for the next two episodes (and the final two episodes of S1 Part 1), the spotlight shines on relations between the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire. Episode seven takes place on the day before delegates from Earth, Romulus, Qo'noS, Vulcan, Ferenginar & Andoria are expected to arrive in the Accobar System to sit down with President Taylor, Richard Wakins and Renee Hampton.

As we know, there is opposition to the idea of a new peace treaty on both sides. We have already started to dig in to the Romulan splinter group, but we have yet to touch upon the actions of the Federation groups protesting the action. So that is what this episode dips in to - but it won't be for the last time. No matter what happens in Episode Eight, we're far from through with both groups.

As Renee deals with forced collaboration, we'll be hearing FNN's views on the situation, issues arising with incoming visitors, an unusual problem down in Engineering and an update on the science team's data recovery process. Hopefully, there will be plenty to do and it will be plenty of fun. Hope to see you there after a few attendance issues across the board in SRPs last week.
