21st December 2013

This special episode of Star Trek Asteroid Base in the Asteroid Field is set to feature a number of returning members and characters, including some dating back to the conception of the Asteroid Base series, while presenting an original story - detached from the ever-growing complexities of the Accobarian and Halkonian storylines. It will pay tribute to all eras the Accobar System has resided through in an up-to-date manner. Something of a classic Star Trek tale, accessible and hopefully enjoyable. More details, of course, will emerge closer to the time.

The Halkonian Endgame

Back to the world of complexities, the Halkonian Empire will feature in force as we come to the close of the second season. Masquerading as lost citizens of Accobar III, hijacking Asteroid Base: Alpha, exploiting once long-lost advanced technologies and expanding as a commercial yet militaristic society in an undiscovered pocket of space - the Halkonians have been an underlying threat to the residents of the Accobar System. Yet, if it wasn't for the likes of Daniel Thrace and David Rush, they may never have been discovered - and disturbed - at all. The result of that interference is finally going to roll in to view before the season's end. Denara Clarke's foresight, David Rush's disappearance (and reappearance in the past), the D'ni power crystal theft and an interest in the Hobus System. It all comes together for what could be a rather ambitious final set of episodes.

Did you start making assumptions when I said Hobus? Haven't you learnt anything?

Greg House Takes Point

December 7th. Mark it in your diaries, for Daniel Thrace himself takes over Asteroid Field for a truly mysterious and revelatory episode. It will push the series forward in a number of ways and once again demonstrate that risks sometimes have to be taken to keep a good thing going. From what I hear, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Greg does when he takes over in two weeks... and so you should be, too. I'll leave the rest of the teasing to him, when the time is right.

The Future

I could have ignored it. I could have swerved around it. I could have forgotten all about it. But a moment is coming in the canon which Asteroid Field will face head on. The very nature of the series will be redefined and Pioneer Station, along with the Accobar System, will be transformed forever. It will be the darkest of days when one very bright light in one very small part of the galaxy quite literally goes out. Will you be ready when the moment arrives?
