Starting STO is simple. After you're patched up and ready to go, you will come to a Character Select Screen. If you already have a character here, skip this section.

You will have the choice to create 1 of three factions (a normal F2P player will be able to make one of each). Once you decide your faction, race, and specialty you are ready to customize your character anyway you want, thanks to Cryptic's immense character creation tools. Once you are done creating your character, run through the tutorial and you should be set to start playing Star Trek Online!
