Star Trek: Asteroid Field returns proper this week for the belated fifth episode of the third season, Gods and Monsters. Two years ago, it's predecessor had just finished it's debut season at TLO - reviving the stories of the Accobar System after a two year absence from RPG-X. Unfortunately by the end of that year, Star Trek: Asteroid Base had been cut short and the main storyline underwent a major rewrite.

The Accobar System had been billed as being a special place full of secrets. Asteroid Base: Alpha itself had a past wrapped in mystery. Now, by the fifth year of Starfleet's time in the system, Asteroid Base: Alpha has been destroyed. The recent hiatus, as unexpectedly short as it may have been, has proven one thing. There is no time for delay. Starting this week, I will be uncovering the origins of that outpost and how Accobar System came to be lost for so long. By the season's end, you will know how the Halkonians came to inhabit the region and whether or not the outpost that would become Asteroid Base: Alpha was there when they arrived.

Finally unveiling the system's past outright is rather weird. After years of playing around it and only hinting with phrases, warnings and prophecies - we're jumping right in to a flashback from the word go. But, weird as it may be, it's also growing in importance that it happens now. Everyone has been made well aware of the rift in space-time which has fractured the system and two of the galaxy's most powerful inhabitants seemed to believe that it would one day tear Accobar apart and potentially extinguish all life in the Tyrella Sector.

From Sel'tar to G'rath, Red Dawn to Hobus - there always seems to be a major distraction preventing anybody from taking any real notice of what's happening just a few asteroids over. But now that the clock's ticking, (literally?), somebody is going to have to start thinking about doing something.

Speaking of distractions, Mason has been uncovering a new one to stay occupied with. Something involving one of her crew members is proving to be a cause for concern - and over the course of the next five episodes, may have tragic consequences. Every Commanding Officer has brought their own agenda or mission to AB:A or Pioneer. In Mason's case, making up for the loss of that medical frigate on her first day is going to be what drives her to protect this person.

As ever, there is going to be room your own stories. In fact, this season's arc was brought to me by another member - who will become increasingly obvious as time goes on. So please, when the series restarts, let yourself loose on your character. Old members and new.

Thank you again for your votes on the SRP poll - I hope to you see there.
