Episode Title: "The Siege"
Writer: Grizz
Air Date: 11th October 2014

"I will throw this station in to the planet before I allow that to happen..."

Halfway through the ominous fourth season, Pioneer has finally closed it's doors as a now Starfleet-only crew sits and waits for a believed-to-be impending Halkonian attack. Now heavily armed and protected by the Fifth Tactical Wing, Accobar would appear to be impenetrable. However, when Starfleet Command is expertly distracted and an improbable shuttle disaster rips through the lower decks, the system is put on the extreme defensive as Clarke's mission brings her back to the Accobi homeworld.

It's up to the crew of Pioneer Station to hold fast and prove how inventive they can be as the asteroid field is ripped apart by weapons fire...

...until fate intervenes and changes everything.

An Introduction to... 'The Siege'

The Halkonian fleet could tear Pioneer Station in to tiny pieces in a blink of an eye. But there is one problem. Denara Clarke is seeking the Accobi interface to access the Accobarian technology throughout the system and control the spatial rift. Destroying Pioneer would be something of a setback - as Thrace and Rush seemingly managed something in five years which Clarke could not over a much more substantial period. Clarke has attempted to convince Starfleet on the dangers the Accobi face, but was dismissed when the Accobi warship materialized in the system to save Pioneer and Mason's crew from destruction.

More recently she set out to show them what a single Accobi Assassin could accomplish, set loose aboard the Athena. Though the credibility of the assassin's actions has yet to be verified. With the Halkonian hit-and-run attacks not accomplishing much, Clarke is taking to the aggressive-negotiation table and taking the fight back to Accobar itself. She has Plans A, B & C lined up - and perhaps even a Plan D. This attack is about making it personal. As the senior officer in the system, it would only take Sophia Mason to surrender the interface. So attempting to wear her down further after last week's attack would seem a plausible strategy. Regardless of the collateral damage along the way.

This isn't a run of the mill base-under-siege episode, though it will have some familiar set pieces - and some not-so-familiar. Including that much promoted shuttle crash, which has larger repercussions than you may think going in to the latter half of this limited-run season. After a shaky start, Mason finally finds her footing in the Accobar System.

Stick around and you'll have been back for four :P There was something of a delay after you left. In fact, this is only the second episode featuring our main characters and the first on Pioneer - McClintock has hardly missed a thing.
