Hello everyone,

We, the STO staff and the president have decided that it might be time to disband or restructure the TLO fleet and join other fleets, such as the ''Priority One'' fleet. We made this decision because of the lack of activity even with our best attempts to boost it.

Before we do that i would like know to how you all feel about this.

Above is a poll with the following options:
- Yes I would like to merge with Priority One
- Yes, I would like to merge with another fleet (post in thread).
- No I want to stay with the TLO fleet.
- No, I want to restructure the TLO Fleet into something more casual and alt-friendly

We hope you understand why we made this difficult decision.

Thank you ,

SFC3 and Dendo Hellen

I vote to stay in the TLO fleet.

Yes, we are only small active fleet - however I'm not a person that thinks that progress above all is the measure.  The size of the contributions needed to level up the starbase now are big for us as a team and this may put people off.  I don't like the idea of leaving behind the progress we've made, however, just to join in with another fleet who've (probably) progressed further than we have.

It feels like cheating, and I don't like giving up.  Having moved from STR to TLO I've switched fleets once, but never intended to do so again.

I hold out hope that activity will rise again in the fleet.  In my experience in TLO we have periods of high activity and periods of low activity in STO.  The current poisition is a classic low activity period - after having the Christmas Event followed by the Anniversary Event people will be feeling grinded out.  I'm having a break away even though I haven't managed to use the gear/ships gained from the events.  Doing the Dust to Dust mission 24 times, as I did, has lead me to need a break.

If you want to do some specific events, I'll try to be there.  Can't see me just popping on at the moment, though, no matter what the fleet.

These are my thoughts:

TLO is simply not going to survive in the way that it is currently and I see that. I can't see an end to this problem, not in the foreseeable future. That's why I want to merge TLO with a larger fleet, or merge at least our main characters in the fleet which are quite active with another fleet.

This would allow TLO to be instead a fleet for alts - and our mains are in other fleets, for example.

I simply think TLO cannot survive as it is - but will not die either. I'm still going to keep a few characters in for posterity's sake.

Hey SFC and other STO player.

I don't play STO myself so I know little about this. But SFC, you mention that the fleet, in its current form "cannot surfive as is". I am not familliar with STO concepts, so I'm just going to ask. In STO, is there some system of "rent" or other form of upkeep a fleet needs to have in order exist within the game? Or is there some form of competition where other fleets can defeat and disbanden your fleet some way or the other? I not, could you please elaborate a bit on, perhaps also for clarification towards other STO players, what you mean by "I simply think TLO cannot survive as it is" ?

Star Trek Online's fleet system is designed in such a way that there is no incentive to join smaller groups. You can't get the gear you need to be proficient at endgame content because the process of acquiring it is tied to your fleet's development. You can't develop efficiently with a small group unless someone is throwing large amounts of money at the game to help speed up the process. Essentially, aside from Star Trek: Discovery, we aren't really doing anything another fleet isn't already doing better. It makes recruitment a tall order, and it's why the merger idea is being seriously considered.

Alright, thanks for clearing the up Serris.

Since I'm not active in STO right now, I won't be voting in the main poll (though I certainly will vote in the Cabinet poll if we proceed with the merger based on public feedback), so I'm not very familiar with this group "Priority One" we are seeking to merge our STO fleet with.

SFC/Dendo, can you tell us a little more about Priority One, give us more information about who they are, their focus, etc?

I really think abandoning the fleet you already got to level 12 (8 levels from top level FYI) is kind of saying "screw you" to everybody who has contributed to the fleet.

The TLO fleet has provisions in all sections, so players can be invited to a fleet with T5/T3 holdings and get the item they need, whilst slowly levelling up the TLO fleet. There's no reason to disband it, and it's just throwing away every resource the TLO community has pumped into it.

As Himble said, the fleet isn't active now, that's not to say we won't see a surge of activity during the summer event, or when Season 10 hits.

Since I don't actively play STO, I won't be placing a vote in the poll, but this basically sums up my views. It seems a waste of all the work people have put into the fleet. Although, like I said, I don't play actively, so I won't be voting.

As I said above, we would not disband the TLO fleet completely.

Instead, it would be transformed into an "alt-friendly" fleet instead - something much less casual with much less work involved. This way, people in larger fleets can unload their provisions or supplies to TLO, as larger fleets may not have many projects for players to donate to. The TLO fleet is very casual with people of various timezones - but I want to give people the choice to not only join another fleet - but the choice to stay as well.

This is just a poll to see what you - the community - in general believes we should do.

Priority One is a STO podcast - focused on news, interviews, etc. You can see that here: http://priorityonepodcast.com/ But for the past several months, I've been in their fleet and TeamSpeak - and I can generally say they're a casual group of really, in general, gamers. Their fleet has members who have split off from numerous other fleets, such as Jupiter Force.

There's always someone around to help you, as well. People who are economists, ship builders, or even DPS league members. They're in general a friendly bunch. I encourage you to check them out in the link above, and if anyone wants more info to contact me about their teamspeak details so you can ask them personally what they are about.

To sum this up, we are not destroying the TLO Fleet. We (myself and Dendo) will be transforming what the TLO fleet is completely. This includes a fleet bank restructuring, and rank restructuring. We will also look into making the KDF fleet more viable to players, as well. Those who do want to leave will be happy to do so, as events we hold will always be multi-fleet no matter what. Everyone is welcome to come back at a later date as well - either to unload supplies as your fleet is fully tiered, or to stay and participate in fleet events. I, myself, have many alts in TLO fleets. I intend to keep it that way.

Again, this is just a poll to gather member feedback about this decision.

I'm sorry if we have mislead anyone about any part of this poll, I should have posted this sooner. There was a total miscommunication from myself to the community, and I am sorry about that.

SFC3

In addition, I have added a new choice to the poll above "No, I want to restructure the TLO Fleet into something more casual and alt-friendly"

All are allowed to change their vote - and I encourage all to do so.

This comes as the worst news ever.... I never anticipated the our TLO Starbase and other locations be merged with another Fleet.... So far I understand We wont be literally shutting our STO home, but instead let it sit. Correct me if I got that wrong. So we need more contributions? more participation? I believe that regardless of the level We TLO members have earned and mined away on our STO Home, We should keep our STO Home and nurture it as We have done for so long. Such a long history for our work all the way from our Four Fathers till now. Let us not write in our TLO history the day We as TLO "merged" with another Fleet. And yes, I love the notion of inviting other fleets, thats all good, but its Our home We invite others to visit and share amongs friends in the vast STO Universe. I myself do shamefully admit to not being active at all for several months, but I will commit to donate to the masses if necessary so We can all level up our STO Home.

You all are people I have never met in person or on the phone, but as I expressed before to some in private and maybe somewhere on forums, this place means so much to me... Lets save our TLO Starbase and other locations We as a People have developed to where it is right now. Its a growing family through contributions and the idea that our STO TLO Roster is intact.

So with all this expressed from the heart and mind, respectfully and most humble, SFC what will it take for us to remain at our home and not merge? To what level will We feel it can be safe? I really do see and understand the difficulty in motivating some in participating on activities and so on. Your duty along with Dendo is not in vein, and you are both highly appreciated in many ways. This one just really hit home.

SFC3

We will address this in tomorrow's meeting.
