Surprised? So is everyone else! There have been a lot of concerns about the accessibility of RPG-X, especially the upgrade process for rpgxEF 2.3. With this in mind, I decided to take the initiative and streamline everything for new players by releasing a brand-new installer!

The Last Outpost RPG-X Ultimate Edition contains the latest RPG-X 2.3.4B release, as well as virtually every mod and file dependency a new user could possibly need, barring a few SRP-specific music packs. This is the biggest standalone RPG-X client TLO has put out, weighing in at 3.67 GB. It's a hefty download, but if you're just getting into RPG-X, this is the most convenient package you can get!

This is endorsed by the RPG-X division. Any new members who feel that the download process is too cumbersome should download the Ultimate Edition. While the download is quite large, it has pretty much every file you need, including the essential TLO music packs, model packs, and a lot of the most commonly used maps.

I would even recommend this for people who already have 2.3 set up if they'd rather download and install one file rather than hunt for individual maps and music packs.

Oh, and for veteran players:

With Ultimate Edition, you will no longer need to hit Tab every time someone changes their character model. You're welcome.

Thank you Serris for your hard work here!  8)

Yay Serris! I'd like to know, is there 2.1 in the installer? Holomatch only really works on 2.1 considering all the holomatch servers only run 2.1. I would imagine 2.2 is also in the install since people are still using that at the time of writing...

But well done! You've done a bang up job!

Ultimate Edition only comes with the latest version of RPG-X, however, it's fully compatible with the RPG-XCE 1.2.5 RC1 installer if you want to install 2.2 beta 8.4.4.

SRPs would switch back to 2.2 because a critical bug in the name system was causing server crashes in 2.3 beta 2. If your name was over 33 characters in length, speaking or even receiving a tell would cause a buffer overflow and bring down the server. Since that's been rectified in the 2.3.4B patch, I didn't see any reason to include 2.2.

The Ultimate Edition installer was updated with a modified license file to reflect that this is now TLO's official RPG-X client. I also took the time to change the desktop icon generation so that the target line is automatically filled with the command parameters to launch rpgxEF without any issues. If you're installing RPG-X for the first time, make sure you let the installer create a desktop icon and use that to get in-game.

If you already downloaded the installer, you don't need to do it again. Honestly, it would just be a waste of time. I do have another announcement, though:

In the coming days, I will be releasing a "Standard Edition" client without all the mods, specifically for people who don't like large downloads.

Google Drive link is broken. Are there any links on this forum that work?

Direct download is always ending in corrupt archive (i.e. failed download).

This page shouldn't even be linked to anymore because it was the initial announcement. The Google Drive link is broken because I deleted the file and haven't updated this post, but The Last Outpost link will still work because the filename is the same with each new iteration. If you want to download it from Google Drive, use the dedicated RPG-X download page instead. That is regularly updated with each new release.

Martin, can you please edit this page so that the "Download RPG-X Ultimate Edition here" link actually leads to the RPG-X download page?

Updated the page to link to the correct location.
