"The death of one or more of the hostages is a very likely outcome..."

Michael Barnes, Jemma Etis and Tim Rogan are all in the hands of Denara Clarke and the Halkonian Fleet following a hasty retreat from Accobar. Believing her hostages to be leverage for control of the Accobi homeworld, Clarke has extended an invitation to the negotiation table aboard the Orion itself in orbit of Rajusca. Knowing what they do about a tampered and dangerous sensor beacon in the system, Starfleet plans to lure the Halkonian cruiser in to a trap to cripple Clarke's incursion. However, unwilling to accept the loss of three valued officers and friends, Captain Mason puts everything on the line to make a deal to save them - back-channeling Starfleet Command and the President of the United Federation of Planets.

The day ends with a tense exchange on the moon's surface. One which becomes a turning point for all parties involved.
