Six months. That is how long the debut season of Star Trek: Asteroid Field will have been running for since it's pilot to conclusion. That four months longer than what Asteroid Base had to keep up with in a season and two months longer than anticipated due to delays and postponements. I will admit to a few missteps in pacing and an error in judgement when it came to building up the mid-season instalments. But normal service is about (almost, about) to be resumed.

Following the final instalment in a series of Griffiths-penned episodes, the series returns to a familiar format for it's 4-part climax. Shall we go over a few unanswered questions?

What is G'rath's masterpiece?

This is the slimy chap who masterminded a Starfleet conspiracy to wage war with Romulus over a period of seven years, corrupted Colonel Walter Peirce, formed the 24th century edition of the Illuminati, organised the incapacitating of the POTUFP before installing himself in to that role, oversaw the construction of a fleet of powerful warships from an illusive shipyard. Oh, and he also managed to send his right-hand man to an alternative reality to gain allies in a parallel universe. So what could be be lining up to be more 'spectacular' than all of that? I had to ask myself that a few times, too. But soon enough, one character will make a monumental mistake, opening the door for the former President's return.

What are the goals of the rebel factions?

The rip-off Cult of Romulus and the Illuminati remnants didn't make an effort in preventing the peace talks earlier in the season. In fact, all they accomplished was to prevent the President from arriving at Pioneer. If the summit wasn't the target, what was? Are both sides working together or do they have different agendas? How much of their operation is influenced by G'rath? Why did they need Jemma Etis out of the way? What has Daniel Thrace found which they want and do they truly know how to use it? Are any of their leaders still amongst the population aboard the station?

What is Ryan Burke's Endgame?

The former FNN reporter has seemingly gone freelance in his efforts to terrorise Doctor Hampton through her crew. He's off the radar for now. But I suspect he'll be back. Perhaps with a few answers as to what went down in San Francisco, 2378. Or maybe he'll bake everyone a cake and come over for dinner. Hard to say, really.

Who will be Head of Mission?

It's Taylor / Hampton versus Chaplain / Wright and you will have a part to play. When the time comes, every member (crewmember) will be eligible to vote yea or nay in the choice to keep Renee Hampton at the top of the ladder for the Accobar science expedition. I wouldn't decide now. A lot can happen in three weeks. The majority will form Pioneer Station's vote in the decision making process, joining a committee of deciders.

Who the frak are the Accobarians?!

Not Cylons, at least. But this is now the sixth year in which I've tried tirelessly to reach the point where I can reveal the answer. Asteroid Base has been cancelled twice in my attempts. Three roleplaying groups have dissolved during it's presence. But Asteroid Field shall rise from the ashes at The Last Outpost and triumphantly reveal the answer to the greatest secret ever to grace RPG-X!!!!

Okay, so it isn't that great. But answers are actually coming on June 22. I just hope that GREGORY HOUSE / AEQUITAS happens to be present. Daniel Thrace hasn't quite seen it all, yet.

Anything else?

Possibly. Probably. Absolutely. There's quite a lot packed in to the final few episodes. Some of these things will change the 'Asteroid' series landscape for good. One episode in particular is a two-hour tribute to Asteroid Base, culminating in an event I swore I would never write but came very close to doing in Season 2 of that particular series. It's not one to miss - even-though GREGORY HOUSE / AEQUITAS will be doing. But not to worry. I've already filled him in on all the details. He holds as much power as those Americans who got hold of the Doctor Who finale a week ahead of time. Screw you, BBC America.

So, despite yet another postponement (though, thank you to the two of you who remained on the server, fifteen minutes in, and the two who were there but disconnected simultaneously) and another one to come - I hope most of you will be there to see of the first season of Asteroid Field, and also say a proper goodbye to Asteroid Base while we're at it. How? Wait and see.

I previously stated that the series would be back for Season Two. However that's no longer a guarantee depending on how these five episodes play out. We're overrunning by eight weeks now, and there's only so long I can pass that off as an unfortunate occurrence. So stay involved in-game and on the forums!

Thank you, all!
