It is New Years Eve, 2288. The last day of Captain Carters time as leader of the galaxies last best hope for peace.
As he prepares his final farewells, The station goes about its daily routine. Ships coming and going with the most unusual thing happening is a ship loosing control of it's engines.

As the day goes on, the Captain keeps a constant watch of the time as he awaits his escort home. During the wait, the Imperial Warbird, D'lan arrives bringing with it the Romulan Ambassador, violating the Eternity Agreement, stating clearly that ambassadors will arrive to the station on a government transport with light escort only. Instead the Ambassador arrives on board a heavily armed warship. Not the best start to his relationship with the Starfleet crew.

Eventually the USS Mississipi arrives, bringing with her the new Captain. Captain Natalya Winters. Promoted to the Station from her 5 year command of the famed USS Sparta, she is stern, professional and prompt. She makes her greeting short and quick and gets right down to business with her Briefing with the head of Special Operations for the station.

As time goes by the Klingon Ambassador arrives. An hour before the Reception is due to take place to celebrate the project and new years. Making them 4 hours late. And too violates the treaty. Escorted by an entire armada of Klingon ships. As the Captain calmly reminds the Admiral leading this fleet that they have violated a treaty set fourth by the Organians that his government signed and that they must send the ambassador via shuttle and leave immediately, the fleet fires its only warning shot. Immediately prompting the Captain to call for the stations arms to be closed, forming a seemingly impenetrable shell and thus protects the station and her 25,000 civilians and crew.

As the Klingons fire, they eventually stop, noticing it's not worth the energy they're wasting. As they leave, the crew are lulled into a false sense of security which is shattered as a massive warp signature is detected. The Tholian Ambassador has arrived. And they too are late.

The Tholian vessel dwarves all the ships the other races have built to date and the crew are left bewildered. As the Captain again repeats himself over that they are required to only send a ship set out by the treaty, the Tholians are thus confused as the ship they've sent is what they consider a cruiser sized transport. Leaving the crew with the feeling that they hope to never see what the Tholians consider Battle Ships and Stations.

The night progresses non the less. The Ambassadors arrive at the Reception. As do the Command Crew. As they proceed to enjoy the party the countdown begins. 10 Seconds till New Years. 10, Long Seconds. As the clock strikes Midnight glasses are raised as the lights go down and Plasma Fireworks are shot outside, filling the rooms across the station with hues of Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple and Gold. And to finish it off, the USS Mississipi now having relieved the Excelsior, fires four specially modified fireworks above the reception room. As each explodes they produce images of each Flag of each of the Major races partaking in Eternity.

Blue for the United Federation of Planets
Red for the Klingon Empire
Green for the Romulan Star Empire
Orange for the Tholian Assembly.

It is now January 1st. 2289. And this is the time of Station Eternity. Our last best hope for peace.

Episode 2: Sanctuary

The Captain has called a briefing with her senior officers to discuss the issues in Down Below. Almost over 200 Civilians unable to leave the station after loosing all their money are forced to live in a makeshift shanty town in the depths of the station where Life Support is automated. During the Briefing she discusses the issue as best she can, from having security increase patrols, to having the medical staff to set up clinics in the area to provide preventative medical care and prevent sickness.

The Chief Science Officer makes note that an energy signature still alludes his staff and is still working on finding the source and nature of the energy signature. Little does he or the crew know how significant this signature will become for their day.

As the Briefing draws to a close the Captain makes he way down to the Council chambers to start the first presiding of the Eternity Council. The Klingon, Tholian and Romulan Ambassadors are annoyed as she walks in 25 minuets late and waste no time in reminding her of this.

But never the less the day progresses. The representatives of the Hydran, Gorn, Kzinti and Lyrans arrive and so do some observers, permitting the Captain to start the meeting
various agendas are discussed. Starting with the Klingons whom are demanding Embargos on the Romulans following outlandish and extortionate tariffs to "Protect" Alien vessels passing near their space as they conduct trade, much to the annoyance of the Romulan Ambassador. The Captain is forced not once, but two times to use her gavel to calm things down as the two start to argue. After the Captain and the Council come to an agreement on the matter by allowing ships to have escorts, there by removing tariff needs and indeed improve the security of the vessels travelling, The Second Agenda is that the Federation has proposed a General Trade Agreement and Mutual Defence Pacts which would see the Council races providing trade and defence to the younger races in times of need. Especially the Hydran whom are facing an Economic downturn following a Gamma Ray Burst last year which devastated a key agricultural world in their space, leading to mass food shortages now that supplies are running low. Eventually after initially disagreeing to help, the Tholians are brought to an agreement. But as the Other races are allowed to make their views heard, the Station is thrown into chaos as the Computer alerts the entire population to an incoming energy shockwave.

As everyone starts to scurry to their posts and the civilians run for the emergency zones, the halls are filled with red hues as the Station goes to Condition Red. Upon reaching the CIC, the Captain finds out that a massive Shockwave is 2 hours out and as they prepare a separate subspace shockwave is en route ahead of the main one. The Arms start to close, but as they close the shockwave hits. Causing unknown damage to the stations 3rd arm, which doesn't close correctly.

The Shockwave is traced back to the Arcadia Sector. Specifically to a system where a Hypergiant is located. A Star so huge no other planets exist in it due to the sheer gravitational forces. The Shockwave, is that of the Star going Hypernova. Also known as a superluminous supernovae, This is far more deadly and dangerous than your typical supernova and it is heading right for the station, in 20 seconds. a Full hour and 30 minuets faster than originally calculated. Meaning for unknown reasons the hypernova is travelling at warp speeds. Something not possible by the laws of physics as we know them to be.

The shockwave strikes the station regardless of what the Laws say. And causes major damage even with the arms closed. The stations 3rd Arm failed to fully close. Allowing a limited amount of the shockwave to hit the internal parts of the station, far less damage caused than if all the arms were not closed at all and the shields left offline.

But now the crew are faced with 3 questions.
Why did the sensors not detect the shockwave a lot sooner?
How did it travel at Warp Speeds?
Hypernovae of Hypergiant stars usually start with Gamma Ray Bursts. Is this related to the Hydran event?
