Air Date: 27th September 2014

"Your Asteroid Base: Alpha... will it work?"

Before their unexplained exodus, the Accobar System was home to an extremely powerful and advanced civilization, the mysteries and relics of which have been sought out and poured over by the Starfleet crew that has inhabited and protected the system for the last six years. As they enter their seventh, they will be fighting to ensure that the mighty race they first believed to be extinct, will never be able to return to the galaxy. But they are not alone. A rouge offset of the Halkonian Empire, led by scientist-turned-warrior Denara Clarke, has already revealed how far they are willing to go to prevent their not-so-ancient enemy's return - while attempting to destroy the Accobar Star.

The final reckoning is upon us... and this is where it begins.

***

For an undisclosed part of this episode, you will be asked to take on the role of an Halkonian officer aboard Clarke's command cruiser, Orion. Some of you have played parts aboard this ship before, but they were never noted - so their names will be swiftly retconned. I will be sending details to some of you, this week. Otherwise, please assume that you will be taking on the closest to your usual role. Thanks!

An Introduction To: 'Halkonia Rises'

The first of the six episodes is the shortest. Taking on board what was said last season - episodes will now be as long as they need to be within the two-hour slot to keep things moving at a decent pace. This episode focuses on the Halkonian Cruiser, Orion, as Denara Clarke prepare to lead those who followed her in to a strike on the Federation. Right now, Starfleet is in the way of them achieving their objective - and even Clarke isn't entirely sure how far they will need to go.

The backstory stretches back as far as the first season of Asteroid Base - but obviously, we aren't really in a position to cling on to it tightly. So I'm going to try and keep things succinct for those who haven't been with us for the entire storyline - which is a great number of current members. Halkonia Rises will take place over an hour or less - opening with a brief but pivotal scene, touching on Asteroid Base's lore. You will all be tasked with inhabiting Halkonian officers, far from home, approaching the end of a long and tiring mission in the fight against your enemy. An enemy that you may not even believe still poses a threat, but dare not speak up. You left your lives behind long ago to strike back at those who laid waste to your homeworld and threatened to purge the galaxy of all other life.

It's a means to fully establish the Halkonian players in the long game - instead of them being restricted to viewscreens and spectated sequences. In the end, these people are trying to protect the galaxy, but find themselves unwilling to compromise with the Federation, who they see as unwelcome guests in the Accobar System.

So we're not back on Pioneer, this week... but that's ultimately Clarke's final destination.

Alas, it seems two months was not enough :P Since we technically haven't started yet, I will keep the Absences section clear on this occasion. Thanks to those who turned up on time and thanks to MT for letting me know he would be delayed.

We're on borrowed time, so lets try and kick off, next week!

What happened?

We were sub-5 members at the start time. Wasn't viable for the content. I only knew MT would be slightly late.

The first two minutes alone contain some of the most important pieces of information I've ever shared  :P

I think one problem I would and will encounter is that the timeslot isn't exactly perfect for me considering its proximity to doctor who and since the days of Tom Baker and Chris Eccleston (I watched both at first) my Saturdays have revolved around Stuff - >Doctor Who -> More stuff -> Sleep      and I'm afraid nothing will get me off the TV when the title sequence starts. So you know, a heads up.

I did ask everyone about the timeslot and only got two replies so....

Doctor Who now starts two hours after AF does. Episodes will finish beforehand to ensure the changeover to SM, anyway.
