Technical Difficulties

I am haveing technical difficulties. I tried to connect to the server, and it said "awaiting gamestate", and then for a split second it begins to connect, but then dumps me back on the main menu. I tried the /com_hunkmegs to half my ram as recommended, but it didn't work. I also dont ahve a CD key. I tried entering a random 16-digit number, which seemed to work, as in it said "valid key, thank you", but nothing changes. without a CD key, any settings I change revert back to the original value...

This seems like a variety of different issues clumped together. First of all, are you using vanilla EF, ioEf, ioCow or rpgxEF?

Secondly, Does your router block port 27960 or 27961?

IoCow, and my router doesn't block anything that i know of.

ive had this problem before, and i use ioEF. idk what the cause is but I have to live with it

Do you know why you're being bumped back to the menu? There should be a specified error in your console.

Also, check that your firewall and security settings are set up to give RPG-X its exceptions. McAfee used to block it on my computer (not sure why), had to set it up as an exception. ;)

it just says a load of normal stuff.like ie. "5 ranksets detected" for example. ive looked at the stuff before when ive logged on and its no different. must be firewall thing, but i dont think it has it on...but what do i know about it? lol

Get the condump after it kicks you back to the menu- then post it up here. We might be able to figure that out. ;)

(to take a condump, open the console with ~ and type /condump [pick a name].txt - it goes into your RPG-x2 directory)

Well, I went to try to get the Condump, and I was able to connect... and explore the solaris for a bit. It did make a point to mention that privacy mode was off. could it being on have caused this?

Privacy mode is a feature enabled (or disabled) on the server by the admins- and is "turned off" on most if not all RPG-X servers. To my knowledge, its function cannot/should not interfere with people connecting to the server. ;)

If you do have problems connecting sometime in the future though, make sure to grab that condump and post it here.

I am currently having this problem, with a slight variation. I click the server, it bring up the load screen, shows that it's trying to dl something called pak50.pk3 to my baseEF directory, and then bumps to the main screen. Help please? I've  tried the condump but the file never shows up...
